'King Mo' Lawal vs. Mark Kerr, Fedor Emelianenko vs. Gegard Mousasi Exhibition Set for M-1 "Breakthrough"
This Fan Post was promoted to the front page by Nick Thomas.
According to MMAJunkie, Don Frye has been replaced as headliner for M-1 Breakthrough:
"M-1 Breakthrough" will now feature a main event between previously scheduled headliner "King" Mo Lawal and replacement fighter Mark Kerr.
King Mo (4-0) was originally scheduled to face Don Frye at the main event of M-1 "Breakthrough" but an injury forced him to pull out. Frye will be replaced by 40-year-old, PRIDE and UFC veteran, Mark Kerr (15-10).
Kerr will be the more experienced fighter, but he has lost his last four fights, including nine of the past eleven fights dating back to the year 2000.
Hoping to add more star power to the event, officials added an exhibition match between Fedor Emelianenko and Gegard Mousasi:
Additionally, the Aug. 28 event, which takes place in Kansas City, will feature a special exhibition match between recent Strikeforce signee Fedor Emelianenko and Gegard Mousasi.
The friendly exhibition match won't be under normal MMA rules and will not have any judges. The match will happen less than two weeks after Gegard Mousasi faces Babalu Sobral in Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg.

lol...
I’m sorry, but what a steaming pile of dog shit this event is going to be…
Mark Kerr, really? Thats the best they could do?
Mentioning of an exhibition match is laughable, what a waste. This is just going to alienate those MMA fans that actually do know who Fedor is instead of drawing fans to Fedor and M-1. People wanna see him fight, not pickle tickle Gegard Mousasi for 5 whole mins.

Correct me if I'm wrong here ...
But Does that mean Gegard is going to fight this Saturday & then turn around and have an “exhibition” match 2 weeks later ??
What’s to say he doesn’t get injured in his fight (cut, broken bone, KO’ed etc) ???
It’s a waste if you ask me.. But then flip it and what happens if he beats Fedor ??? lol Exhibition or not… It’s a loss..

Did you not see the “exhibition match” between Fedor and Aoki? All it is is friendly sparring and good-natured grappling, as a show for the fans. I’m cool with it — it’s part of Fedor’s role as an “Ambassador to the Sport.”
LMAO
Yeah that’s real entertaining.. NOT
Watching Fedor grapple a lightweight Aoki … lol Oh joy !!!
I guess I’m in the minority with this because I see absolutely no reason in an “exhibition” grappling match.. IF I wanted to watch grappling, I’d watch Abu Dabi & Sambo tournaments… Something that actually counts.. I could see if they were going to do a “seminar” and spar there.. But acting like it means something is what really let’s me down… I think they may have read what I posted and took it the wrong way from my earlier post’s in the other topic…

Thanks for making my dreams come true, M-1
Every night I was dreaming of the day we’d get to see Fedor re-establish his claim for the top of the pound-for-pound exhibition rankings.
Now all we need to make this card complete, is to change King Mo vs. Mark Kerr from an MMA fight to a thumb-wrestling match, and then add Butterbean vs. Hong Man Choi in a game of Go Fish.

Fedor re-establish his claim
Did is miss the fight where Fedor lost or even showed a chink in his armor? All business decisions aside, this guy is still the top HW in the world… unless youre ready to say Brock is the best HW Mixed Martial Artist.
I think I speak for everyone when I say
Sigh…

Mark Kerr is dead...
And Fedor vs. Mousasi in exhibition = lame.

That must have been one helluva injury that Don Frye had if they replaced him with a dead guy.

Really?
I see a lot of people pulling for Mousasi in this because they’re tired of Fedor’s BS.
Exhibition = outcome has already been planned

LMAO
at some of the first comments. the only thing you can do with an announement like this is make jokes about it. We’ve all heard enough of the dramatic responses for one year, I think. Time to enjoy the show, and just lol.

Mousasi better be careful, Russians can’t be trusted in “frendly exhibitions”

See Rocky IV for example
Drago vs Creed was only suppose to be an “exhibition”, look how that turned out.

Is anyone going to actually pay for this M-1 event?
Not going to lie to you, I probably won’t bother.
Pay for it? Isn’t it gonna be free on hdnet? That’d what I was hearing, I don’t think anyone would pay for this shitty card… Maybe if mousasis fight with sobral is off an they make it a real fight with judges, etc

Take this for what it's worth, wikipedia is the source

Wow, this whole thing smacks of utter, total lameness....
The only reason to watch may be for the “train wreck” value of it…….
La naiba cu Monkey Rally !!!!!
Seriously
Can we stop referring to “M-1 Global” as a promotion? They don’t have a license anywhere that requires one, they can’t figure out how to put on a show, and they make the most bizarre bullshit match-ups since PRIDE.
Actually, can we stop referring to them as Global too? They clearly don’t function in the United States.
Don't believe a word I say, I don't train BJJ.

You all sound bitter
But I understand.
Personally, I’m down to see Gergard and Fedor roll. I loves me some martial arts between the best, even if it’s not the particular blend of martial arts we’re all hoping for.
While it's style is what it is
Its still a fictional show revolving around the broadcast of a fictional martial sport called Pro-Wrestling.
As far as it’s come, that’s still what it is. I mean, Zangief’s in street Fighter, right? El Fuerte, right? That totally proves it. Totally.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
There is nothing fictional about pro-wrestling as a martial art. Guys like Frank Gotch, Ad Santel, Lou Thesz, Kazushi Sakuraba, and Josh Barnett have proven that. Don’t diss the art just because the WWE prefers to employ glorified stuntmen and juicemonkeys rather than legitimate pro wrestlers.
