Today on MMA Nation on 106.7 The Fan: Tito Ortiz, Mike Chiappetta
Today on "MMA Nation" we'll be joined by UFC light heavyweight contender Tito Ortiz. "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" will join us to talk his re-signing with the UFC, the meeting in his home he had with Dana White, possibly fighting in Mexico and more.
We'll also have Mike Chiappetta, MMA writer for AOL Fanhouse, on to talk yet another crazy week in MMA.
For East Coast MMA fans, I'll also be talking about UWC 7: Redemption, which takes place October 3rd. Of course, I'm the color commentator for the UWC, so I'm biased, but expect some big fights.
"MMA Nation" airs every Saturday 7:00pm EST to 9:00pm EST on 106.7 The Fan. To listen live over the Internet, go to The Fan's website and click "Listen Live".
I'm also now on Twitter: @mmanation.
"MMA Nation" is also available by podcast on iTunes.
Number to call: 800-636-1067
Email here.
Talk to you then.

UFC light heavyweight contender Tito Ortiz.
There’s a phrase I didn’t expect to see until he’d actually won a fight or two. Maybe he’s still riding high on those two wins over Ken Shamrock back in 2006.

Everyone is a contender, technically speaking. I realize he has a hugely long way to go, but I’m just using a simple modifier for him. I’m not suggesting anything against the facts of the case.

Tito Ortiz is probably two wins away from a title shot, not something you can say of just anyone who hasn’t fought in over a year.
I don’t think they’re actually going to let him kill me... And if he does kills me, book sales will really go up. Boom…win-win, bitch.- Forrest Griffin on Anderson Silva

I’m really looking forward to this show. I just hope I don’t have to wait until the middle of next week to download the podcast.
I’d love to hear you ask him about the possibility of fighting Randy for a second time. It’s the only remaining credible match up that can be made out of the Tito-Randy-Chuck holy trinity.

Can't wait
Looking forward as always, but a quick question: How are you going to work the Redskins into the show? I only ask because from what I can tell The Fan can’t go more than two and a half minutes without discussing them.

We don’t discuss them at all. It’s all fighting for us.

This is good I am suffering from MMA news and speculation withdrawal after this last week.

I die a little inside everytime I hear the “1 0 6 7 THE FAN” jingle. Just getting it out there. The “Fedor not in the UFC” situation didn’t bum me out too much because after recently seeing WJFK get butchered I am a broken man, as far as my entertainment goes. Sorry for the shtick, but it has to be said.

I still can’t believe Tito and Dana made ammends.

Important note...
the commercials you get listening live online are (usually) different from what you hear on the actual radio

Luke...
you should PROBABLY mention that “our rankings” don’t mean rankings we’re putting together. Just so people don’t take it as a biased thing that you work with the UWC and he suddenly is in our rankings. he=easton

My wife works for a chiropractor...
simply getting regular adjustments will gain you an inch (i’m an inch taller since getting treatment there). ahving new bone put in your back is a for sure inch “growth” for Tito

How much cr*p would I get if I said...
That I would consider taking Tito over Anderson Silva by UD?

Not a lot from me...
Tito’s chin is pretty solid (yeah, getting KO’ed by Chuck ain’t a shame), he is huge, and if he is healthy I think he could probably take Anderson down and pound on him.

The problem is this seems to be everyone’s strategy, but Anderson is very clever at standing up and reversing. It’s an interesting fight down the road, the big thing for Tito is he needs to develop a way to finish fights.
Tito is the best interview ever considering the fact that he can’t speak English.
by Michael Rome on Aug 1, 2009 8:53 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, i just think the size of Tito would be more of a problem than say Henderson who got the takedown but didn’t have the size to just absolutely smother

can we really say that he was KO’ed – it seemed to me more like Chuck made him not want to take anymore punches

Might want to get your guys to fix up the iTunes listing: MMA Nation, CBS College Sports, Category: College & High School.
People may not notice it under that category. Took me a bit to locate it myself.
