Dana Confirms EA Fighter Threats and His Dislike For Japanese Promoters?

Easportsmma_medium

Versus has the scoop:

On Mirko Cro Cop's potential return to the UFC:

"I hope so. Like I said at that last press conference in Germany, he and I had a deal, and I think he's going to honor the deal. ... I have said this many times and I'll say it again: there's some crooked sh*t that goes on over in Japan. They're all crooked. There's some sneaky sh*t going on over there, and that's always a big problem, you know. These guys who are in the fight business over there, for my Mexican friends, 'No bueno. No bueno.'"

Funny that he mentions this, and then turns around and says "No bueno" to his Mexican friends.  I am sure that there is no corruption for him to look forward to in Mexico. Also, LOL at the "sneaky" Japanese remark from CP on this quote.  Maybe his mindset is still stuck in WWII.  Cage Potato has more on this story.

On the rumor that UFC fighters past, present or future are being prohibited by the organization from signing with the new EA Sports MMA video game:

"That sounds like me. That sounds like something I would say."

On whether the UFC will return to Japan in the near future:

"They're going to kill me if I ever go to Japan. Why are you trying to get me over there? (Laughs) They hate me over there."

Reporter: "They're waiting for you."

White: "They're waiting for me. Yeah, they sure are."

I don’t think that really “confirms” anything… sounds like sarcasm and he finds the question funny…. but it doesn’t deny it either though.

George Lucas is a major douche bag... do everyone a favor and forget how to use the internet.

People forget that he recently did the same with the Vitor Belfort. What? I don’t remember saying that but it sounds like something I would say. =D

How dare you

At no point, in any transcript, did the words ‘sneaky Japanese’ leave Dana’s mouth. You’re LOLing at something that didn’t happen. And yes, even SMOOGY admitted that Japanese MMA was shady as fuck (he was unable to give any other explanation for Mezger/Sakuraba).

Look, those of us in the know already know you’re reaching, but when you’re making up quotes, everyone can see it. Stick to what Dana actually said or take a night off.

by Derek Suboticki on Jul 9, 2009 9:52 PM EDT reply actions

Cage Potatoe had that as a headline btw

Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.

by P Brady on Jul 9, 2009 9:57 PM EDT up reply actions

At least they put quotations around just ‘sneaky’ and said it was about promoters.

Supremacy is deliberately manufacturing a quote to make it look like Dana White is a racist (while throwing in a little subtle jab at Mexico). This is unconscionable.

by Derek Suboticki on Jul 9, 2009 10:02 PM EDT up reply actions

Its from the Cage Potato headline, hence the link to the story.
=D

by MMASuPreMaCy on Jul 9, 2009 11:23 PM EDT up reply actions

No, it's not

They put quotes around only the word ‘sneaky’.

Good word to describe you, actually

It’s clear that not much has changed around here.

And I care about this why? If you think Japanese MMA promoters are on the straight and narrow, you need to call me so I can sell you some property.

by Riney on Jul 9, 2009 10:07 PM EDT reply actions

If you read my quote, I say its funny that he is saying Japan is corrupt, yet he speaks Spanish to his Mexican friends (obviously, the UFC is heading to Mexico next, which is notoriously known for being corrupt). That’s what was funny. Can’t figure out how people didn’t get that.

by MMASuPreMaCy on Jul 9, 2009 11:35 PM EDT up reply actions

Actually, Japan is not corrupt, only their MMA scene. Mexico, on the other hand is corrupt, but I’m not sure if we can say that about their MMA.

by cyph on Jul 10, 2009 12:10 AM EDT up reply actions

Actually, I remember hearing that no one has gone into Mexico and done MMA shows yet because of it being so corrupt, so, that is what I was alluding to.

by MMASuPreMaCy on Jul 10, 2009 12:22 AM EDT up reply actions

And by no one, I mean the bigger name promotions. WEC and the UFC have talked about it for a while now.

It's true

There is no curruption in Japanese MMA.

even with his obvious biases, i usually like supremacy's updates on non zuffa news,

cause it was mostly NEWS, but this one really had too much of a “zuffa is evil” smell..

im sorry supremacy but your rainbows really deserves to be pooped on this time..

by Anton Tabuena on Jul 10, 2009 7:27 AM EDT up reply actions

Meh

Frankly, weo3, I’m tired of that old hat. He provides news, but it comes at a cost. If he would just do his thing and leave it at that, there’s value in some of his work. But the news he provides is always a thinly veiled jab at Zuffa, and his fantasy MMA nonsense is excruciating at times. If he kept it clean, I’d rec him far more often than the two or three times I have in the last year.

I poop rainbows.

yeah, well i know he's super non zuffa man anyway

so i always have a huge salt shaker when reading his stuff and it doesn’t bother me as much anymore.. he gets a lot of non zuffa news so i enjoy it anyway.

From Meltzer and Kid Nates post:

http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2009/7/9/944149/dana-white-cro-cop-the

“UFC wants the word out that anyone in the EA game will never work for UFC… There is the attitude right now that even the people who have already signed for the [EA] game, even before they made this doctrine clear this past week, won’t be brought in [to the UFC], which isn’t exactly fair as you can hardly punish someone for making a decision to sign up for a video game when they had no opportunity to get into your video game in the first place.”

“The WEC guys can’t be in the UFC game but also didn’t have the opportunity to negotiate deals for the EA game.”

That’s the exact thing I have been saying here since the news started.

by MMASuPreMaCy on Jul 9, 2009 11:31 PM EDT reply actions

Also, LOL at the “sneaky Japanese” remark. Maybe his mindset is still stuck in WWII.

This is what the article looked like before I bitched, implying that Dana said ‘sneaky Japanese’ which he did not. Cage Potato didn’t say that Dana did, and their headline was (and is)

Dana White Not Fan Of ‘Sneaky’ Japanese Promoters

That’s not even close to the same thing as saying ‘sneaky Japanese.’

Really, man, it’s ok if you let the occasional anti-Zuffa talking point go because it’s not juicy enough by itself to generate outrage instead of just making shit up. The rest of us will understand.

by Derek Suboticki on Jul 9, 2009 11:48 PM EDT reply actions

LOL

You are debating “sneaky Japanese” versus “sneaky” Japanese.
=D

by MMASuPreMaCy on Jul 9, 2009 11:54 PM EDT up reply actions

I fixed it to correctly quote them btw.

Would it make you happy if I quoted “They’re all crooked” instead?
=D

by MMASuPreMaCy on Jul 9, 2009 11:56 PM EDT up reply actions

I’ve read the original quote by Dana White and then you’re little fan post here. I’ve been lurking around for awhile and noticed you’re anti-UFC stance in every post. You’re really reaching here bro with this whole “sneaky” Japanese quote. There was NOTHING racial in his quote about shady tactics over in Japan. Usually your anti-UFC posts atleast have facts, this fanpost is just full of spin.

This is what I wrote:

Also, LOL at the “sneaky” Japanese remark from CP on this quote. Maybe his mindset is still stuck in WWII. Cage Potato has more on this story.

And you read the Cage Potato article I linked?

What exactly am I reaching at or spinning, btw, other than me pointing out that it was funny?
Man, a lot of angry people here today. Tough crowd.

by MMASuPreMaCy on Jul 10, 2009 12:20 AM EDT up reply actions

He (Dana White) was referring to the Japanese MMA scene as being shady. Hence using the word sneaky. To say that his mindset must be stuck in WWII would imply that Dana White was being racist by using that term. He wasn’t, yet you made a fanpost implying that he was. Hence the spin. Get it? And a lot of people aren’t angry on here, they just won’t let you get away with writing stuff that isn’t true.

by filipinomix2oo0 on Jul 10, 2009 12:44 AM EDT up reply actions   1 recs

That is NOT what you wrote

In the original FanPost, the quotations encompassed the entire phrase ‘sneaky Japanese’ to make it look like Dana said it. You’re simply lying at this point. The original retraction I could live with, but to lie about what you originally wrote hours later is simply beyond the pale.

Also, LOL at the “sneaky Japanese” remark. Maybe his mindset is still stuck in WWII

^ THAT is what you wrote.

I vow to never comment on any of your tripe again. You’ve gone too far into the abyss. I encourage everyone here to do the same.

by Derek Suboticki on Jul 10, 2009 1:28 AM EDT up reply actions

I tried to go that route. It’s sort of impossible. It’s like that kid that everyone grew up with that claimed he was a ninja and lost his virginity to Tiffany Amber Thiessen at age six. You just have to go “d0000000d, what??”.

i wasnt sure how much sarcasam was in his appology post. it sucks that i actually have to ask that question.. but then i read what was posted after said “appology”. there is no doubt to me that he meant to portay White as a racist, got caught and tried to spin it. /vomits

How did the quotations marks become an issue?

Well White IS a racist , just from the top of my hat I remember him calling Fedor’s managers crazy russians , calling some female reporter a cunt for no good reason and insulting gays all that in public media .So the main issue here became the quotations marks being put in the wrong place instead of White’s despicable behavior ? Him forbidding WEC fighters to participate in the game is just wrong … why not talk about that? Totally disgusting behavior , even Microsoft never did business like that .

by JoelMan on Jul 10, 2009 7:56 AM EDT reply actions

How can Dana be racist if he’s friends with Rampage?

by Phildo on Jul 10, 2009 9:10 AM EDT up reply actions

Racism is not calling a woman a cunt, or insulting gays. Different hate groups there…

Also, calling a specific group of Russians crazy is not racist. It is not using a derogatory term to classify the group (Russian) nor is it making a generalisation across the group (he called THAT group of Russians crazy, not all Russians)

Now lets move on to Homophobia/Sexism

by Well Read Idiot on Jul 10, 2009 9:30 AM EDT up reply actions

Ok , so he’s sexist , homophobic , accentuates people’s forigen nationalities when he insults them , AND he won’t let his WEC fighters participate in the new EA game .
But good thing he’s NOT RACIST !!! (yeah , right)

by JoelMan on Jul 10, 2009 12:37 PM EDT up reply actions

White also called Hong Man Choi Long Duck Dong which is the name of the asian in ‘Sixteen Candles’ (not that I read/seen that book/film but still) . But Whatever , he only insulted one asian dude so it’s OK

Sixteen Candles (1984) More at IMDbPro

Samantha’s life is going downhill fast. The fifteen-year-old has a crush on the most popular boy in school, and the geekiest boy in school has a crush on her. Her sister’s getting married, and with all the excitement the rest of her family forgets her birthday! Add all this to a pair of horrendously embarrassing grandparents, a foreign exchange student named Long Duc Dong, and we have the makings of a hilarious journey into young womanhood.

hope this is good enough for u now !

It’s people like Subo or anyone who doesn’t like what I write trying to find anything to get upset about, really. Dana can call Russians Crazy, Japanese Weird and Crooked, women c*nts, guys f@gg@ts, etc, but I am the bad guy because I misquoted “sneaky” Japanese by writing “sneaky Japanese” from a Cage Potato post and being blamed for trying to portray him as a racist. Go figure. =p

You’re the “bad guy” because you tried to make it seem like White said “Sneaky Japanese” and when called on it, you tried to spin it to “but i did quote the CagePotato article”.

That isn’t the point and you know it. No one is jumping your shit because you misquoted or improperly quoted something that wasn’t even said. It’s because you lied about it when caught and tried to make it about something else. This isn’t about weather or not i like what you post, so stop trying to play the victim.
