Brock Lesnar "Respect Is For Losers":

"I didn’t have any respect for Randy [Couture], I didn’t have any respect for Heath [Herring], I don’t have any respect for Frank."

"There’s going to be a winner, there’s going to be a loser. As soon as you step in and have any respect for your opponent, I think you become the loser a hell of a lot sooner."

Geezus Christ! why Brock. This whole “heel” thing is just too damn WWE. Wait… didn’t he say he had a lot of respect for Couture after their fight?

by poundnground on Jul 9, 2009 5:10 PM EDT reply actions

LOL at the overreaction. Brock is talking about when he’s fighting a guy, he has no respect for them. He obviously has respect for a guy like Couture, and said so many times. But when it’s fight time, that goes away.

by Hardcharger on Jul 9, 2009 5:17 PM EDT reply actions

Haha I love it. Guys, Brock makes more money the more fights he sells, read nothing more into his quote than that.

Its a circus act, not doubt. But the dude can fight legit. He is in the main event, he can cool his jets. Cut down on the WWE crap. We get it, its promotion, but it is phony and cheap.

BJ does it and its annoying, but it seems more genuine. Brock’s seems like 100% contrived bullshit. Maybe BJ is a better actor. Maybe Brock’s over the top attitude is from years of steroid abuse. Maybe its real hate for Frank Mur. I think its fake WWE crap. He went back to a fight that happened and said he didn’t have respect for Randy. Thats not how fight hype works normally.

by szucconi on Jul 9, 2009 5:45 PM EDT up reply actions

BJ’s is no more sincere than Brock’s, he admitted as much after the Sherk fight. What I can’t stand is the double-standard that everything Brock says or does is because he is a dick but if BJ Penn or (insert your favorite fighter here) does something similar it’s OK because they didn’t used to be in the WWE.

I believe what he’s saying is that he’s going into this fight with the same mindset that he went into those fights with.

Many of us don’t like either guy, so you can stop being upset about the double standard that doesn’t really exist, or that people don’t like Brock because of the WWE. Old excuse is old.

Randy spanking Tito was a great bit of black comedy – Saku even did the same thing to one of the Gracies (Ralph?). It was a small, one-off joke. Brock has an entire persona built around this attitude that is overshadowing his abilities.

I think its funny people are upset at this but if Rashad does it its OK. Rashad is just being colorful in the ring, his crouch grab wasn’t disrespectful, when he taunted Machida….he got KTFO.

Brock is a heel, and guess what sells? Good vs Bad, Dark vs Light, Assholes vs The respectful. Here we just have a 285lb Nick Diaz/Shields/Hughes/Penn/Shamrock.

1.5 million PPV here we go.

On a side note, the guys who usually come over and watch the UFC at my house are all hosting their own parties. Just me and my kids, should be great.

Will the pro-Lesnar fan let the Brock haters have our moment? Seriously If he gets knocked out, the fan posts will be a war zone. On another note think about how obnoxious Mir will be if he is the champ, I’m rooting for Mir and I’m already worried that if he wins his mouth might make me hate him.
