Jon Fitch talked to Fighters Only about his opponent Paulo Thiago:
The fact that Paulo beat Koscheck is a little added incentive to get that win. Any time I or anyone on my team gets an opportunity to avenge a loss we revel in that, we really enjoy that and I think that goes for all fighters.
[Paulo Thiago] is a good fighter - but he is young, its only his second fight in the UFC.
I am going to go out there and put on a clinic, show him what the big boys are all about. I have got a lot of respect for him, he is a tough guy, but I gotta do what I gotta do.
Stylistically I think me and Paulo match up really well. I think I have better wrestling, jiu jitsu might be pretty equal but I think I have way better stand-up. This kid is undefeated, he’s an up-and-comer, he’s in the UFC, he belongs here – all those things are going to make this victory more sweet.
Will Jon Fitch put on a clinic, or will Paulo Thiago shock the world twice, much like what Sokoudjou did when he first entered PRIDE?

Fitch is a Beast
I can’t get a bead on his personality, sometimes he is likable and sometimes he is not so likable. But undisputable fact, the guy is a beast at 170lbs. I put Fitch in a similar situation to Rich Franklin. Probably beats about everyone at 170lbs except for the champ.
Bottom line, he is gonna stomp a mudhole in Thiago.

Looks like Jon Fitch was rooting through Frank Shamrock’s storage closet! Fitch is a huge favorite in this fight, but needs to be very wary of submissions. I’m pretty confident in Fitch, though….hasn’t been submitted since his first pro fight against Mike Pyle back in 2002 I believe.

I agree with Nick. Fitch went 5 rounds with the best p4p fighter in MMA in GSP. Yhiago gets pummelled in this fight.
If Thiago was to beat Fitch, whose 2 fight win streak would you consider better, Thiago’s or Sokoudjou’s? I’d say Sokodjou personally.

Both kos and fitch are gearing up for revenge, and if thiago still wins, it would be HUUUGE..
IMO, he deserves a title shot if he does it, but I think they’d give him swick just for fun and to complete the Tito vs lions den effect.

given what’s happened to sokoudjou i think its almost better for thiago’s career to lose this fight. he must have pissed off joe silva…

Sok’s only because Thiago had an undefeated deep (more than ten fights) record before making the big time, whereas Sok was served up as lamb. But Kos and Fitch > Arona and Lil Nog
