UFC 100 Quote of the Day: Jake O'Brien Begs to Differ on Jon Jones
"I don’t think he’s ever been (on his back) in a fight...I know what it’s like to be on my back. He hasn’t been there. That’s the place to beat him. I think that’s where he’s not ready to be a top-level fighter yet. I’m not going to give him a lot of chances to throw me."
"He gets wild...The wild things he does, they work. One of these times, it’s going to hurt him, like Urijah Faber; how he got caught the first time he fought Mike Brown. He can’t be like that forever."
-- "Irish" Jake O'Brien, outlining the foibles in Jon Jones' style. The two prospects meet on the undercard at UFC 100.

i didnt even think about this being a possibility.
its true we havent seen jones on his back at all.
this one just got interesting.
damn it and just when i was satisfied with my picks too.
That was a real kick and good for laughs and lashings of the old ultraviolent.

Smart Bet on O'Brien
I still think Jones will win, but the odds for this fight are ridiculous. A must bet in my opinion. I better throw my bet down because i do not want the odds to change against me

I’m picking Jake in this one. I do think that Jones is more talented but my gut tells me that Jake upsets him Saturday. Watch out for Jones after he gets a little more experience, though. Kid can fight!

Jones will be in trouble when he runs into an extremely technical fighter like O’Brien who can find holes in his game.

I dislike Matt Hughes and Twidder.

Jake O’Brien can contemplate the error of his ways during the 2:36 of this fight that he’s going to spend flying through the air.
Keep firing Assholes!
Out out, you demons of stupidity!

I like Jones and all but I believe at some point soon he will be in for a very humbling experience. Probably wont be at the hands of a lay and pray artist but it will come. I hope that he stops talking so much and fights well, I dont need to hear about how some day when he is a better fighter he will beat lyoto machida because his muy thai will be better then karate. Ehhh some day maybe but till then there is no need to talk like youre the second coming of sliced bread

Jones: “All O’Brien has is a single leg takedown. He uses it in every fight he’s had. I think I can defend that.”
O’Brien: “Mwahaha all of your fancy techniques will be useless when I land my secret weapon: the single leg takedown!”

Nice
You know it’s not impossible that JOB mathumps the shit out of JJ here. Just improbable.

And on fire.
If you see Mark Coleman in person, drop $5 on the floor and watch the fun as he tries in vain to bend down and pick it up.

Shorter JOB: ’Dude’s got to lose sometime, why not now?’ I think it’s pretty much just Forrest that can pull off the whole ’I’m praying not to die’ thing – everyone else has to at least try to sell it.

I dunno
Jones looks like hes giving up that single leg here:

Actually Gusmao got him on his back after Jones missed on a throw. He got back up in about 2 seconds with ease.
You have to get close to him to put him on his back. Almost every time you get close to Jones you go flying through the air. The rest you eat knees to your body until you break away

The arguments for O’brien winning are eerily similar to the majority of BE staffers that chose Bonner over Jones in UFC 94. Having the technical advantage doesn’t always stand up to elite athleticism and length. Jon Jones is going to have an 8 inch reach advantage over O’Brien.

Bonner never had the Wrestling acumen that O’Brien has.
Better question is who wins in a fight: Jon Jones or Heath Herring?

Right now?
Jones. He’d show up.

I put some fake money on Obrien. Jon Jones is overhyped at -500.

Yup.....
it’s easy to put money on the underdog…. if the money is fake!
