Gesias JZ Cavalcante to Compete at DREAM.11 But Not Against Eddie Alvarez
Promoted from the FanPosts by Kid Nate.
There were rumors of Gesias JZ Cavalcante taking on the Eddie Alvarez at DREAM.11, but now JZ told Tatame he will still fight on the card, but not against the Lightweight Bellator Champ:
They offered me Eddie Alvarez and I was excited, but it seems that he’s injured or had some other problem and won’t be able to fight in the event. I’m confirmed in Dream 11, but I still have no opponent
The rumored matchup was also squashed by Eddie's manager, Monte Cox when it was first announced. Although, according to him, it wasn't because of an injury but because contractual issues from Bellator:
Dream called about this fight... I told them no. Eddie fights for Bellator.. Also, Bellator owns the rights and probably won't allow their champ to fight elsewhere.
Rumored DREAM.11 card so far:
Dream Middleweight Championship:
-Jason "Mayhem" Miller (22-6) vs. Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza (10-2)
Dream Featherweight Grand Prix Semi-Finals:
-Bibiano Fernandes (5-2)
-Joe Warren (2-0)
-Hiroyuki Takaya (11-6-1)
-Hideo Tokoro (22-16-1)
Dream Super Hulk Tournament Semi-Finals (Open Weight):
-Gegard Mousasi (23-2-1) vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (6-4)
-Ikuhisa Minowa (42-30-8) vs. Hong Man Choi (2-2)
Non Tournament Bouts:
-Andrews Nakahara (2-1-0) vs Zelg Galesic (9-4-0)
-Gesias JZ Cavalcante (14-3-1) vs. TBA

Bummer
I was disappointed when I heard this fight wasn’t gonna happen. It would’ve been an all action fight. Hopefully they meet somewhere down the road.

JZ desperately needs to pick up some wins
he’s coming off a very serious surgery and needs a tune up fight he can win.

I’m hoping that Bellator is just trying to hold off Alvarez-JZ from happening in DREAM because of the rumors that JZ is thinking of going there and participating in the Lightweight Tournament, where a fight with Alvarez would be the prize.

I honestly hope
that they can put together a JZ/ Hansen rematch. The first fight was phenomenal, and at this point in their careers, it makes alot of sense. I, for one, would love to see this fight happen (even if it means that they both have a tune up fight in the meantime).

JZ is one of the greatest fighters of our lifetime. It’s a shame more people don’t realize that.
