A Message For Our Troops
I'm a liberal. Actually, I'm a flaming liberal. I detest a lot of the things that have gone on over the past decade with regards to American foreign policy, I was strongly opposed to the war in Iraq before it even began, and I've always felt that Afghanistan was neglected as a priority under the previous Administration.
On this Independence Day, I wanted to take a moment and make clear that this isn't the 1960's anymore. Veterans returning home don't have to worry about hippies calling them murderers and spitting on them. The public has finally moved to a place where, while we can hate the mission and the commanders all day, the soldiers are respected for following orders that may directly jeopardize their lives. Without them, we wouldn't be able to sit around and bullshit about mixed martial arts all day.
Take a moment and be thankful for all that the United States Armed Forces has done. If you see anyone in their fatigues or uniform, shake their hand and say 'thank you.' Help their kids by donating to their classrooms. Above all else, don't hold whatever beliefs you have about why they are where they are or what they are being directed to do against them. They don't choose the mission - they just win it. On behalf of Bloody Elbow and the rest of the online MMA community, I extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for all you do. Thanks, troops.

From Wikipedia
Hear, hear is an expression used as a short repeated form of hear ye and hear him. It represents a listener’s agreement with the point being made by a speaker.
It was originally an imperative for directing attention to speakers, and has since been used, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, as “the regular form of cheering in the House of Commons”, with many purposes depending on the intonation of its user.1 It is often incorrectly spelled “here here”, especially on websites2 and IM.3
It is :-D but you’re hardly the first person that has done that here, and Richard isn’t around to correct it.

I will be dissapearing for about 12 weeks in September for Basic Officer. After that its common Army/Infantry school for 9 weeks. Then 24 weeks for Basic Officer 1 and 2. After that I will be posted to a base somewhere like Le Citadel or Gagetown. After that is done I may go to New Mexico for advanced combat school to prep for a deployment in Afghanistan if Canadian troops are still stationed there at that time.
Bisping/Hendo
Bisping win= you going Kansas City Chiefs
Hendo win= I go Ottawa Senators

How long is the commitment for up there?
And thank God because I was afraid I might lose that bet :-p

Its a long commitment because its a comissioned position, and the Canadian army is fairly small and can not cope with a high turnover rate of skilled personell.

Cant remember where I read it but…‘Soldiers, in general, are apolitical not amoral’
From those that I know, that does seem to be the case. Damn fine men too.
Over recent months, I think I have read about a dozen or so individual accounts of soldiers experiences in Iraq or Afghanistan and it saddens me to think that many a folk will have formulated an opinion on these young men and women without ever truly understanding what it is they go through and what they sacrifice. I’m not saying we should put them up on a pedestal and have them be beyond reproach, but I can only imagine what it must feel like to put your self in harms way for your country and her ideals, and to not feel as though they are being appreciated at best.and chastised at worst.
