He’s getting a whole division in a little while.

Rich doesn’t need a home until/if? they create 195.
He’s had his time at the top on a shitty contract, he just needs to fight some entertaining fights and make a ton of money. I have no problem with people who have had their chance at the top and are no longer ranked number 1 bouncing around and fighting superfights at whatever weight they please.
So……why don’t we just KEEP the 195 lb. division? I believe this is a weight class mmalogic has said the UFC will be adding in the future, why not now? Rich, Wandy, Chuck Liddell maybe, Rashad Evans could probably make the cut, there is plenty of talent to fill the division, especially with the UFC adding more fighters by the day.
I don’t think they’re actually going to let him kill me... And if he does kills me, book sales will really go up. Boom…win-win, bitch.- Forrest Griffin on Anderson Silva
I’m slowly getting behind this. 205 is just too fucking stacked right now.

I dunno
195 and 205 are too close—10 lbs. is what most people do in a weight cut. You wanna create a whole division of people that are dodging Anderson at 185 and Machida at 205? I would much rather see a superheavyweight division added, because I think the difference between Brock and the other 250+ pounders vs. HW’s is a much more profound hurdle that the false weight class of 195, which is a way to protect stars with drawing power who are on their way into retirement (and I will enjoy watching every fight and continue to support them—I just ain’t making a fake belt for them).

I agreed that 195 and 205 is way too close. It would be much better if they keep the 15 lbs spread, like a 200 lbs Super Middleweight and a 215 lbs Light Heavyweight (that way more “lighter” heavyweights can cut down to it). Then again, I like the way things are now, so why fix what isn’t broken.

I like the way every class is, except I would like a cruiserweight division in between the LHW and HW classes. I understand right now the only monster is Brock, and maybe Carwin….but just wait 10 years. Guys who were decent college football players and such are going to start coming in to MMA at a much more rapid pace. And there’s already lots of kids in my town whose only sport is MMA. Brock is just the first of many.
BOOSH
Rich sounds a little annoyed, I feel bad for the guy, he’s trying to make his run at 205 and it keeps stalling out…

Rich should get over it
Love the guy, and he was awesome when I met him and interviewed him, but there’s no way he has a serious run at Machida and the 205 division. The 195 lbs. catchweight is a gift to him on the order of EliteXC’s Gina Carono Weight Class,.

Fair enough.
Vitor’s looked great at 185, but Rich is stuck at 205, so it’s a good compromise. Hopefully this counts towards each guy climbing their divisions’ ladders. I’m just happy because I got tickets!!!
Can we also use Vitor as an excuse to discuss his amazingly hot wife?

Sean Sherk on the undercard? That sucks, I would much rather see him fight then Cole Miller vs Escudero.
I must disagree
I don’t want to watch Sherk swing his dwarf arms around for 3 rounds trying to Box. It’s like watching a T-Rex trying to pick up marbles off the ground. It just doesn’t work.

Rec’d for poetry. Best description of Sherk’s bad gameplan yet.

Cro Cop is in trouble – that said, I think that stoppage was BS. Let the man pull guard.

Trigg question
Anybody think he has a decent shot against Koscheck? At +300 I have to admit I’m tempted …

griffin
Griffin vs Franca on Undercard really sucks, they should do six fights on the main card!
Rich is the definition of a company man.
He is willing to do basically anything for them and I really hope they show similar respect to him in the future if he establishes himself at 205, even if he does lose to Vitor.
Yes, Rich is a company man, but UFC has also stuck by him, made him a face, and is adjusting weight classes to give him good fights. This is way better for him that a rematch with Hendo.
BTW, I really don’t think Rich is pissed about this. I’d guess (based on nothing) that he probably likes this fight better than Hendo. The tweet is not in any way negative—just an explainer on why the fight is at 195, which makes utter sense, considering Vitor is at 185 and Rich is at 205.

He wanted a rematch with Hendo.

Rich ain’t losing to Vitor, personally i’d rather see him fight Hendo and avenge his bs loss again but whatever catchweight makes since considering the both really fight in 2 different divisions.
Why is a good fight like Griffin/Franca getting wasted on the undercard for Escudero/Miller which should probably be on UFN 19
fightlockdown.com
That is a stacked prelim card. Makes the idea of having a live weekly show and scrapping prelims altogether and using those fights that would have went unaired to fill the free weekly cards. Would def help establish up and comers and make uknown beasts like Tibau,Daley, and D Lauzon future draws. It would however kill vault profits and I dont know if i could live without paying for fights that usually crash and not get a refund!
6 Live fights on this card?
I could have swore I heard that somewhere.
Likely Griffin-Franca would be the 6th
