Spencer Fisher Headed to the WEC?
According to the UG:
Win Caol Uno Decision (Unanimous) UFC 99 6/13/2009 3 5:00
Win Shannon Gugerty Submission (Triangle Choke) UFC 90 10/25/2008 3 3:56
Win Jeremy Stephens Decision (Unanimous) Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale 6/21/2008 3 5:00
I dont understand why Fisher would want to move down to the WEC. Its obvious that they make less money in that promotion, and since he's won his last 3 fights, I see no need. Not to sure if he would drop to 145lbs, or try to make a run for the WEC lightweight tilte.

Fisher vs. McCollough/Cerrone/Varner? Yes plz.

i think it would be a really good move for him.. especially coming off a win. he could go right in and have maybe one fight before fighting for the title… He won’t be a contender in the UFC anytime soon, so the move would be really good for his career. :)

He has a better chance at being a champion or at least getting a shot in the WEC then the UFC so I think it is a good move.

Spencer wouldn’t make any less money in the WEC than he does in the UFC. Pretty sure all that would happen is that his current contract with the UFC would be transfered to the WEC. He’d still be making the same money if he made the move to 145.

For paydays it would probably be best to stay in the UFC but all it takes is two losses to get cut from the rough-n-tough LW division. He’s rather small for a 155er, arguably smaller (maybe not) than Frankie Edgar. Obviously he’s tough but I want to see him keep up his good record. Besides which, he could put on some great fights in WEC.

I dont think he is that small. He has fought at 170. In fact he beat Thiago Alves at 170. I dont think he could make 145.

The WEC would be perfect for Fisher who has a ton of tools but has been a disapointment in the UFC with his horrible takedown defense.

I don't think his shitty wrestling
would do him any favors against a guy like Varner.

Fighters just have contracts with ZUFFA. They transfer over
That’s why Jens Pulver and Manny Gamburian were the two highest paid fighters at WEC 41.

agreed. and he would be a bigger fish in a small pond in the wec. he definetly have a much better chance in winning the lw belt in the wec than in the ufc. personally i would love to see him and tyson griffin move to the wec (tyson to 145 and possibly guida and edgar to 145 as well). the money DOES definetly need to start getting better in the wec. perhaps a reduced price ppv would be the answer.

Edgar can make the cut, but if he keeps kicking ass at 155 I’d like to see him stay there.

He lost that fight against Uno
But I’d still like to see him stick around in the UFC.

Early sign that the UFC will transfer their LW’s to the WEC?

Oh yeah, If logic is right, this could be one sign...
I asked reed Harris and he denied the rumors.. Although if I was him I wouldn’t tell shit about stuff that big to me either hahahaha.
Could logic really be on to something? Maybe, maybe not..

Yeah, its a bit far fetched right now.
If they did that, all the UFC LWs would just go up to WW or else they would lose a ton of money.

The contracts are transferrable
Nobody going from the UFC to the WEC would take a pay cut – they’d make less off of endorsements, but their pay rate would not change.
