Zuffa to Absorb 20 Fighters From Affliction's Roster
Inside Fights has the scoop:
Inside Fights has confirmed that Zuffa will absorb the contracts of about twenty fighters from Affliction Entertainment after the company agreed to stop promoting fights last week and become a UFC sponsor.
Because of their ridiculous price tags, (and steroids) that list probably won't include the 'top' guys like Josh Barnett, Tim Sylvia, and Andrei Arlovski. Gegard Mousasi vs. Babalu Sobral has been moved to Strikeforce, Jay Heiron is rumored to face Nick Diaz, and a few Affliction guys like Jorge Santiago also have other contracts overseas, so i guess you can strike those guys off the list too.
We already know maybe three of the twenty fighters as Ben Rothwell vs. Chase Gromley has been announced for UFC 104, and Paul Daley is hinting about a UFC deal. The question now is, who are the other 17?
It may be hard to speculate further, but take note that the report said Zuffa, so their featherweight fighters, like Mark Hominick, LC Davis and maybe even a couple of lightweights could potentially be heading to the WEC.
Fans are salivating on the idea of Fedor and Vitor Belfort coming to the UFC, but without much details yet, I guess we'll have to sit tight wait for Dana White's announcement this Friday.

doesn't Rogerio have another contract?
by Anton Tabuena on Jul 29, 2009 8:23 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Rogerio does not
and is rumored to have already signed with Zuffa. One more thing, Jason high is with Dream, should not have included in above list. I am retarded.

Im pretty sure..
Lil’ Nog is scheduled to fight at the Bitetti Combat event in Rio de Janeiro… Along with Vitor
I dont know if that would prevent them from signing with the UFC or not

I thought Arlovski was done with his Affliction contract? They wouldn’t transfer a completed contract.

Josh Barnett- Dana hates him + pissed hot
Renato Sobral- Strikeforce
Gegard Mousasi- Strikeforce
Jorge Santiago – Sengoku( could possibly be released. Trigg asked and was immediately released)
Gilbert Yvel- don’t think he is their type, plus fight frequency in UFC might be problem for him. He likes to fight alot.
Paul Buentello- Great relationship with Strikeforce. Doesn’t match up with UFC heavyweights to well right now. Wrestlers with good ground and pound is his bain.
Takanori Gomi – not sure if he even ever signed on with Affliction
Pedro Rizzo- potentially washed up
Tim Sylvia – “The Tim Sylvia fight…..HAHAHA…..that was quick….”(sorry, couldn’t resist)
Mike Whitehead – Strikeforce
Matt Lindland – Dana hotes him + Vitor starched him
Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou – Dream

I’d hope that they got Dan Lauzon and Chris Horodecki too. The WEC could REALLY use more LW’s.

I’d love to see Horodecki against better competition.

Takanori Gomi needs to come to the UFC. I’d love to see him vs. J-Lau when he returns from injuries.
Vitor Belfort is fighting at this Brazilian card, same as Nog, so this means as of right now they do not have fighter contracts with the UFC.

No it doesn't
Both fighters were allowed “tune-up” fights by Zuffa.

Actually, these were already agreed upon fights by both fighters. They may have already signed contracts with Bitetti. But from what I understand, they are simply doing the fights to help out the promoter who is a personal friend of most of them. It’s a one time deal, and Zuffa will allow it.

Does that mean we’ll all be wormhole’d to the Gamma Quadrant where Borg Killers exist?
It’s sad that I know that.

Heres hoping that mousasi after his 3 fight deal with sf is up he comes to the ufc. He wants to box so even then i doubt he would sign. Unless he gets beat a few times in boxing and loses his taste for it, also i think kj noons would be a good wec light weight
