Jornal do Brasil reports that Vitor Belfort has been added to the September 12th Bitetti Combat event in Rio de Janeiro, in a bout against French journeyman Moise Rimbon. Paulo Filho was originally set to face Alex Schoenauer, but is now listed as fighting "Edwin Dweeze."
According to Tatame, a public event is scheduled for August 3rd where the fighters will be present and the governor of Rio will announce the complete card.
This is going to be an incredible show if all - or even most - of the scheduled fights actually happen:

WOW
That is an insane card.
And to kyfm621, apparently Vitor’s contract w/ Affliction was exclusive, so the UFC will likely have a good negotiation with him. Meaning I wouldn’t count him out of being under the Zuffa banner in the near future.

Also stoked for the Teixera fight.

WHATTTTT??? WHY???
i thought the UFC got first crack at negotiations and that he had an exclusive contract? This is bullshit.. Fighting journeymen in brazil is not the way to further your career man..

This is not a great card. It has a lot of big named fighters with very few actual good match-ups.
Something tells me Zuffa doesn’t have the space for all these fighters….

No space but they can book Rothwell vs. Gormley for UFC 104?

true dat Relaxing...
I say switch the card up and do Arona/lil Nog and Vitor/Filho.
I bet Dana sent these promoters a bag of cash with a note that said “keep Vitor safe.”
on another note… i hate seeing Pedro Rizzo already fighting again, he’s been gettin his brain scrambled lately.

At least we can be reasonably sure that Monson will put him to sleep more or less gently via Monson Choke (N-S).
It ends in an armbar or a strangle regardless.

I’m calling bullshit on this one. We will see if it ever happens.

I hope Arona slaughters Eastman and goes to the UFC.

Does anyone find it odd that “Chocolate” is a dominant nickname on this card?

Jeff "Chocolate" Monson
I keep cracking myself up thinking that, and I don’t know why.

Batata’s going to fight twice in 3 weeks?

He’s been in a few one-night tournaments, so it’s probably not a huge deal to him. Still, I have the feeling a lot of these fights will change between now and showtime (if, for example, Batata gets the shit kicked out of him by Siyar for three rounds at Shooto). I really love the Brazilian matchups on the undercard though.

All the fan boys need to calm down.
Vitor and the rest of the fighters signed on to fight on this card a month or two ago. I doubt they would want to break their contracts already since Bitetti is a Brazilian legend and the Brazilians want to put on a super show for their fans. Big Nog should be fighting in Brazil right before he retires also.
