Quote of the Day 2: Brock Lesnar - "I Would Enjoy Fighting Fedor"

"My last three fights I have kind of made a huge statement that I'm going to be a tough guy to beat but there's really good guys in the division and there's always a sleeping giant under some rock some where, you know. So you never know."

"I would enjoy fighting Fedor; hopefully the UFC can seal something together and I think the best should absolutely fight the best and if that's what they want, that's what they are going to have to try to get."
Fedor Emelianenko (30-1) -225 vs. Brock Lesnar (4-1) +185

cool interview

he seems pretty calm and humble most of the time

Don't really like the guy but....

+185 against Fedor with only five fights. Love him or hate him Brock Lesnar is going to be around a while. Any past or present heavyweight you can think of that could get those odds against Fedor after their first five fights?

gotta love a guy who wipes his nose with his sleeve. a real man’s man. :)

Have you read Forrest’s book?

"Wait a minute. What did you just say? You're predicting $4-a-gallon gas? ... That's interesting. I hadn't heard that." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., Feb. 28, 2008

i just bought it recently, but have yet to read it. have heard nothing but good things about it, so it’s next on my list of to-do things. :)

by bdw on Jul 27, 2009 3:11 PM EDT up reply actions

also, i read his own critique of his book on the back cover-classic forrest.

I disagree, but

I think he should keep up the slobbering disrespectful testosterone fuelled antics in the ring.

I think the dichotomy would keep dedicated fans putting up with him because they know he’s a decent guy, and it would draw in new ones at the same time.

Exactly. There is no need for him to continue to act Disrespectfully outside the octagon...

…thankfully, it seems that he is leaving all that garbage behind when he leaves the arena.

Nice Job, Brock. :)

I wish he would go the Don Frye route and call him a commie. Maybe get Fedor angry enough to really want to sign with the UFC.

Brock vs. Fedor just got a whole lot more interesting for me if that was possible

Brock Lesnar is Fedor’s worst nightmare. He matches his speed and can out grapple him on the ground.

by AlwaysRelaxing on Jul 27, 2009 3:03 PM EDT reply actions

i like fedor as much as the next guy

but he’d have a ton of trouble with Lesnar, IMO. at +185, bet the fucking farm.

by bobthewriter on Jul 27, 2009 3:03 PM EDT reply actions

same

If fedor dosent catch him in a submission or miracle punch, Brock will control him with his size.

by ryanwk628 on Jul 27, 2009 3:22 PM EDT up reply actions

Say what you will about Lesnar’s personality, but there is no denying that guy is in the fight game to test himself against the best in the world. The level of opponents he is facing at such an early stage in his career is crazy.

by Steve4192 on Jul 27, 2009 3:08 PM EDT reply actions

As of right now I say Fedor KO’s him within 2 minutes. He has to many holes in his stand up game. A year from now I say Brock would beat him.

by dedstrk316 on Jul 27, 2009 4:00 PM EDT reply actions

Problem is that Fedor doesn't have much time left in his career....

….it’s almost to the point where this would be an ABSOLUTE MUST-WIN For Brock ’cause he might not get another opportunity.

by MetsGod on Jul 29, 2009 11:13 AM EDT up reply actions

i agree with Steve,

But at the same time age must play a factor as well. Its not like its his fifth fight and he is 24 years old. He is already around his age peak in the next couple of years so If he wants to be competitive on the grand stage its now or never really

I’m starting to wonder if there’s a long-term future for Brock.

If he managed to beat Fedor (I hope he doesn’t, but it’s def a possibility) he could stay so dominant over the division that he would get bored.

He might end up just moving on if nobody can challenge him adequately.

by Cunny on Jul 27, 2009 5:35 PM EDT reply actions

Brock Lesnar, XARM Champ now and forever

It ends in an armbar or a strangle regardless.

by capital L on Jul 27, 2009 6:27 PM EDT up reply actions

That line might be a little off

but not much…If the fight were to take place in a year, I’d be tempted to bet on Brock. But at this point in time, Fedor would beat him. Lesnar’s wrestling is phenomenal, and his learning curve is very impressive (as is his punching power), but Fedor is the best heavyweight, and arguably the best fighter, in the history of MMA. Lesnar would have to hope to immediately get Fedor on his back and pressed against the cage; Fedor’s stand-up is too good, his submissions are very dangerous, and most importantly, his cardio and pace would most likely overcome Brock if the fight made it past the first 2 rounds. Very interesting stylistic match-up, though.

by Ryjo on Jul 27, 2009 7:54 PM EDT reply actions

and most importantly, his cardio and pace would most likely overcome Brock if the fight made it past the first 2 rounds.

Really, are we sure about this? Anybody know the last time Fedor fought more than eight and a half minutes? October 21, 2006, damn near three years ago. No doubt Fedor is a phenomenal athlete but his cardio has hardly been tested in the last 3 years, I wouldn’t be so certain that he has a better gas tank than Brock at this point.

I don’t think they’re actually going to let him kill me... And if he does kills me, book sales will really go up. Boom…win-win, bitch.- Forrest Griffin on Anderson Silva

by ufc4 on Jul 28, 2009 12:36 AM EDT up reply actions

I could see Fedor winning this by the same way he beat Coleman.. twice.

by DirtyML on Jul 27, 2009 8:09 PM EDT reply actions

If Lesnar Roidalplexes Fedor though, I don’t know if he responds as positively as he did the last time around.

It ends in an armbar or a strangle regardless.

by capital L on Jul 27, 2009 8:43 PM EDT up reply actions

Brock would be the most dangerous guy Fedor’s fought since Big Nog.

Keep firing Assholes!

Thanks to Bisping's reenactment of the Battle of Cowpens, walla walla walla I'm an idiot.

by Ubernoober on Jul 27, 2009 9:26 PM EDT reply actions

Fedor caught Coleman because Coleman loves to posture up from inside the guard. That is a dangerous business against a guy as agile and as skilled as Fedor.

If Brock comes in with the same gameplan he used against Mir, I don’t see how an armbar would be possible. Brock locked down Mir’s hips in the half guard, kept him flat on his back, and never postured up. It’s hard to armbar a guy when he won’t give you any room to work.

by Steve4192 on Jul 28, 2009 10:27 AM EDT up reply actions

Well it's now officially a moot point.

Fedor signed with Strikeforce so FUCK YOU, FEDOR!! YOU COWARD!!!

FEDOR FEARS BROCK! THERE’S YOUR PROOF!
