Mixed Martial Artwork: Stephan Bonnar's NGAUGE inc
2009, Mixed Media on Canvas
48" x 60"
This edition of Mixed Martial Artwork is a bit different. Instead of focusing on fan made MMA art pieces, this edition focuses on NGAUGE inc, a company recently launched by Stephan Bonnar that focuses on creating several artwork that focuses on the classic fights, events and fighters in MMA.
Stephan Bonnar told mmajunkie more about the company:
We do high-end paintings and artwork, then we have prints that we sell. Dana likes it, and he's going to let us go ahead with it... The original painting, the last time I was home me and my buddy were hanging out, and he just wanted some sort of poster of me and Forrest's fight. Nothing like that existed, so we set out to make one.
We want to make these for all of the best fights through history – the popular fighters, the big events. There's a lot of possibilities.
The original of "American Classic" is owned by Dana White. Prints and originals of other paintings are sold on NGAUGE inc's official website.
Paintings on Georges St. Pierre, Chuck Liddell and UFC 100 in the extended entry.
Mixed Martial Artwork is a series here in Bloody Elbow that features several MMA artwork from some very talented artists from all over the globe.

why does it seem that hardly anyone’s online?

this is the first time I’ve been awake at 9am on a Sunday Morning since last NFL season…
nice post though, I rarely ever buy anything MMA (Babalu and Nick Diaz drawings) but I seem to like it all….

They had a booth at the fan expo
And the stuff looks even more impressive up close, that GSP piece is amazing, if I ever get a house with somewhere to put it up I’m definitely buying it.

did they use a wwe-era brock photo, and add gloves to it?

Yes

Could that be copyright infringement if the WWE hasn’t approved that use?

Yes it could, but I would assume they are smart enough to go through all the proper channels before they print up a ton of these. It’s not like the UFC didn’t have enough footage of him they could have used if they wanted.

That’s for original art, prints are only $125. But yes that is a lot of money, I wonder if they’ve sold any yet.

I wonder if the fighters are getting a percentage of the profits?

I think Stephan Bonnar would do great in a career doing children’s entertainment when he retires from fighting.

I like these, but they should’ve used a non-WWE image for Brock.
