How Many Drug Tests Has Josh Barnett Failed?

Most people only believe that Barnett has failed TWO tests but in fact he has actually failed THREE tests. What's the expression, "Three strikes and you're out?"; well at least out of American MMA. I know that the CSAC has had a troubled history so people tend to be cautious about their drug testing, but no MMA commission should ever license someone who has tested positive for steroids on THREE different occassions. Here is a quote from the story: Sherdog.com

Barnett was stripped of the UFC heavyweight title in 2002 and suspended for six months after three different steroids turned up in a test administered by the Nevada commission around the time he fought Randy Couture. Barnett has technically failed three separate commission steroid tests, but a Nov. 2, 2001 failure, taken when he fought Bobby Hoffman at UFC 34, was administered as part of an information-gathering procedure by the Nevada commission, which at the time was exploring whether drug use was a problem in MMA and what penalties such use should constitute. Nevada’s commission ramped up drug testing for MMA fighters in 2003 in the wake of a contentious appeals process with Barnett’s camp. In 2002, Barnett’s camp claimed the failure came from an over-the-counter product.

He Has Failed 4 TESTS! 2 officially and 2 unofficially (these were never announced).

When was the 2nd unoffficial? I only found 1 unofficial @UFC 34

Affliction 1 around the time when CSAC testing was being overhauled… This fuckers post fight test was POSITIVE – but was never announced. for internal reasons at the commission

That needs to be investigated. Yesterday.

Amen! And begs the question even further as to why Atencio didn’t have a contingency plan.

Barnett failing the test was the contingency plan!

Overeem?

With all the rumors about Overeem being on the juice… have you heard anything about that? Since he fought in California for Strikeforce, I assumed there weren’t any problems…

by MMAWrestling on Jul 26, 2009 12:36 AM EDT up reply actions

Hmmm

Barnett looks good against Rizzo and is on Steroids…then looks like crap gainst Yvel and presumably wasn’t on steroids…I guess he realized that he can only fight juiced….and was caught…again.

by MMA_Messiah on Jul 26, 2009 1:00 AM EDT up reply actions

yes but he didn’t look so good against rizzo the 1rst time around(in the ufc) and his body looked ALOT different back then when he was younger(worse). all one has to do is watch some of the old ufc unleashed shows or ufc videos and one could easily tell this dude has been juicing for a long time from the way he looked from one fight to the next.. he looked like he lost about 30 lbs of fat yet retained his size. he got popped in the randy fight and went straight to japan, so no problem, juice away, he found a place where he belonged. iv’e always felt he was a juicer and it didnt take long to prove it once it was forced upon him. when asked why he’s not allowed back in the ufc, dana white’s response was “he knew what he did”. ADMITTANCE is the key word for josh and for his future. where he just to admit to his wrongdoings and then apologize and take repsonsibility for his actions, it might be possible to salvage his mma career. guys like stephan bonnar, hermes franca, chris leben and even big poopy(sylvia, just to name a few) all got popped, and all admited to their wrongdoings and were forgiven and where able to go back and fight on and make a living as an athelete (a privledge imo). same as baseball, everyone bags on bonds, clemens, sosa and big mac b/c they wont admit, yet guys like giambi and a-rod and man-ram admitted and get hardly no flak (especially manny). sometimes people lie so much, they actually belive the lie to be truth. wouldn’t it be refreshing if barnett where just to come and say “i was wrong”.

Taking 12 minutes to finish Gilbert Yvel from mount is looking like crap.

Let's be serious.

He should never fight in a sanctioned event again.

If you see Mark Coleman in person, drop $5 on the floor and watch the fun as he tries in vain to bend down and pick it up.

If he’s too crooked even for the japanese market… damn! Even the Yakuza think he’s too shady to do business with after this.

4 failed test?, i’m sorry but at somepoint you just have to send a message to this guy that’s freaking insane.

If you've used steroids

and look like this:

Then you failed.
