The Dana White Announcement Guessing Game

This is a time killer until the announcement is made. His history of "big announcements" sucks, but with Affliction going bye bye it might be interesting.

So, I'm thinking it'll be about:

-Affliction's fall as an mma promotion, and them being sponsors again.

-Tito Ortiz's signing

-UFC being a step closer to signing Fedor

-Coleko's kidnapping for his conspiracy theories

What else do you guys think?

You don't win shit here. This is just for kicks.  I suck at attempted threads and writing so I'll end it here.

I don’t think there’s going to be any particular big announcement on the radio tongiht. He had planned to go on as part of a 24 UFC themed radiothon to raise money for a cancer org. Chuck just got off the radio, it’s almost dana time. I hope he goes wild.

Steve Cofield just announced that Dana will have some breaking news to announce, as he mentioned

by Sokonojudo on Jul 24, 2009 9:32 PM EDT up reply actions

From what they just said, it looks like that’s cofield hoping that he can get dana to say something on air about all the shit that’s going on today, but it doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen.

This wasn’t scheduled today as a result of what happened today. This has been in the works for weeks as part of a radiothon. If all the t’s aren’t crossed and the i’s dotted why ruin it? Franklin was apparently pushing for the Henderson fight. I’d guess they’d be adding a whole other fight to it.

by Stanlee on Jul 24, 2009 9:54 PM EDT up reply actions

People seem to have this impression, but Rich says it ain't so
"I never really approached the UFC about [a rematch], but I think I’ve been outspoken about the fact that I thought I won the fight the first time and all that kind of stuff. I think from their end, they were looking for a good matchup. I know we’re going to go head-to-head with the (Floyd) Mayweather (boxing) fight, and [the UFC] needed a big fight. You put me up against just a no-name 205-pound fighter, it’s not going to draw a lot of public attention, and they needed something, I guess, and they come up with the idea of Henderson."

I’m taking it from the 5oz of pain interview posted 3 days ago::

""So after the first fight there was a desire to fight [Silva] again, but the second time he just legitimately beat me. Well, he legitimately beat me both times, but even if I wanted to fabricate some excuse, I just couldn’t. The same thing goes for Lyoto. He’s a great fighter, and he beat me. I can put my head down on my pillow at night and say, ‘These are the fights that I’ve lost.’ If I don’t fight them again I’m not going to lose any sleep over it… However, you take a fight like the Henderson loss, where I really, truly feel like I won that fight, then that’s the one that I would definitely like to fight again."

That could be post-announcement PR crap though. I personally was hoping for Jon Jones/Franklin, but oh well.

by Stanlee on Jul 24, 2009 11:53 PM EDT up reply actions

Both comments seem plausible and logical. He probably wanted a rematch, and he probably didn’t clamor to heavily for it.

I'll be perfectly honest here...

Maybe 195 is a viable option, dependent on two or three signing (one of which is Tito). There’s a lot of talent floating around 205 (and some at 185) that could comprise a seriously talented bunch.

Not much other than...

The one guy who bought the spot to be on the show was wasting a ton of potential caller question time by quizzing Dana on Buckeyes and shit and generally just being a complete and utter assclown. Seriously, I’ve calmed down a bit from last night but I found myself wishing someone would have bottled that dude across the head so I wouldn’t have to hear him anymore. He kept trying to talk to Dana like Dana was going to care about what he had to say about Whatevertown, Ohio and all this other bullshit. It was painful.

how about a wanderlei tito rematch @ 205.wanderlei said he wants 2 fight @ lhw also similar 2 henderson.they could hype it up as a revenge match.I think its perfect two of d most popular and exiting fighters weather u lve em or hate em ull definitly watch this match.if tito wins then hes “back” with a win over silva,if silva wins then he can re-establish himself as a prominent fighter among the elite with a win over a big name like tito and he can have his revenge.you heard it here first.bring it on!
