Oh, I know it
It’s been a whirlwind.
"The reason a rabbit outruns a fox is because the rabbit is running for his life and the fox is running for his dinner."
And just like that, the war has ended….
Every single marketable fighter is under the UFC’s banner. That includes their champions, Ortiz, Kimbo, and many others. Affliction is done is the icing on the cake.
There's still a few:
Nick Diaz: but he’ll be back eventually)
Brent Rogers: still getting there, but I imagine when he becomes a real force, he’ll find his way to the UFC
Fedor: I really hope he ends up there, hopefully before he’s spent
It ends in an armbar or a strangle regardless.
I'm not sure
But he sounds impressive.

They may as well label Strikeforce, Bellator, everyone as their Double AA farm system. Only one team in the big leagues now.
The problem occurs when these smaller organizations refuse to be labeled as farm systems and try to compete with the UFC. It actually just makes things worse.

If only the unified rules allowed for headbutts...

If he’s really back in the UFC fold, I wonder what they’ll do with him first. Who needs an opponent @ 205? Why not keep Hendo at MW and replace him with Tito for the Franklin fight?
That would be best, but I doubt it’s going to happen. Franklin requested Hendo.
"The reason a rabbit outruns a fox is because the rabbit is running for his life and the fox is running for his dinner."

“I never really approached the UFC about [a rematch], but I think I’ve been outspoken about the fact that I thought I won the fight the first time and all that kind of stuff. I think from their end, they were looking for a good matchup. I know we’re going to go head-to-head with the (Floyd) Mayweather (boxing) fight, and [the UFC] needed a big fight. You put me up against just a no-name 205-pound fighter, it’s not going to draw a lot of public attention, and they needed something, I guess, and they come up with the idea of Henderson.”
It ends in an armbar or a strangle regardless.
That’s new to me, but it was the first thing popping up everywhere when the fight was announced, and he’s been quoted as saying things like “I would love to get another shot at him”.
"The reason a rabbit outruns a fox is because the rabbit is running for his life and the fox is running for his dinner."
The fight that Ultimate Fighting fans have been waiting for for over SIX MONTHS.
FRANKLIN-HENDERSON II
This time… it’s questionable.
It ends in an armbar or a strangle regardless.
Tito is still a bigger name than Hendo. If the UFC really wants to do damage to the Mayweather/JMM PPV numbers, they should fire up the old hype machine and go to town on Tito’s big comeback (assuming he’s actually back in the UFC).
On the sporting side of things, having a Hendo/Franklin rematch just mucks up the rankings in the MW division for no good reason. Another win by Hendo at MW and he definitely should be first in line for a shot at the title (he should be first in line now, but oh well) and Franklin could only be a couple of wins away from the same at LHW.

How does a Hendo/Franklin rematch muck up the rankings at MW when it is going to be fought at LHW?
fightlockdown.com
Because Hendo should be fighting at MW for a rematch vs Silva. What good does having Hendo bounce between divisions do for the title picture? Does he get a LHW shot if he beats Franklin again? What’s the deal at MW then? It’s confusing.

Tito’s checks are big. He can’t lose to a relative mainstream unknown in his first fight back, especially his first fight after a backeotomy.

He will likely get Mark Coleman first. It’s a warm up fight for him based on their styles, and a fight he can win.

I would like to see Coleman fight Jardine

It’s nice to see Tito back and trust me i will buy whatever ppv he will be on but can anyone really see him doing any damage at 205? That division is already so stacked as it is, one can make a case for him since he should have beaten Evans (but grabbed the cage to make it a draw) and almost made Machida pass out, but that was over a year ago.

Sure other countries might go crazy for NBA players or NBA celebrities when they visit or its the Olympics. As far as following any of the teams and not just googling KG, Lebron, and Kobe highlights not so much. Italy, Spain, fuck even Israel they all have their own teams and leauges with their own superstars. In 2004 the NBA finals were nowhere to be found on any channel in Dubai. Trust me I looked.
I’m not going to trust what may or may not be popular in Dubai as an accurate barometer for sports fans are craving all across the world.

I think I’m relatively safe in saying that the UFC will never have the global appeal of the NBA. To say that the NBA is big in places like China, Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Argentina, etc is a colossal understatement.
The UFC is doing quite well for itself by branching out all over the place, though, and should continue to grow nicely.

The context was that he was ranked in the 100’s among franchises. Didn’t hear him say anything about leagues, and he may have, but he was replying to that assessment.
"The reason a rabbit outruns a fox is because the rabbit is running for his life and the fox is running for his dinner."
Yes, he mentioned that list about the top 300 franchises or whatever, but then segued into some rant about the major sports leagues in general.

Pretty sure he was talking about leagues. Specifically that the NFL and NBA didn’t reach past the borders.

The truth about that interview is hes acting alot more like the president of a major sports league. He used to make difinative loud statements about fighters and orgs. He seems to have learned a little and is keeping things quite till he has the final announcement.
We are used to him being very open and making loud statements so when he acts more reserved and cool headed about things we all get bitter.
I mock him when he makes ridiculous statements. Wether he issues these statements in a rational or irrational manner doesn’t really solve the problem. In fact, when he makes them in a blustery manner, I am more inclined to enjoy it, because it’s clearly part of the show.
It ends in an armbar or a strangle regardless.
Tito
Should really be thanking Rampage, Rashad, and Shogun for making Chuck Lidell an obsolete name. If Lidell could still run through opponents Tito would not be coming back. Dana is really impressive with this move, who else could replace Chcuk as the biggest draw? Brock Lesnar might have been that guy but what Dana saw after 100 I’m pretty sure he was a little more motivated to get Tito’s big ass head in the cage.
I wonder if Tito might just be an obsolete name himself. I’m certainly interested to see if he’ll come back rejuvenated, but the fact is the man looked rather blah in his last couple fights, and the last time he finished an opponent not named Ken Shamrock was in 2001.
It ends in an armbar or a strangle regardless.
Dana plus the UFC will not be obsolete. They really didn’t even push him that hard in the lead up to his Machida fight and he still got a huge pop from the crowd.
If he’s back 100% in the UFC and they combine their marketing muscle, they will make sure everyone remembers who he is.
Oh I don’t doubt that, and I don’t think MrBlond3 meant that Liddell was obsolete as a drawing force either. I’m only speaking to their respective fighting abilities at this stage in their careers.
It ends in an armbar or a strangle regardless.
Tito pulled big numbers when Dana hated him imagine what he will do when he gets the Chuck Lidell treatment with Dana’s full support/protection. Don’t be suprised if an extremely hyped rematch with Machida gets thrown around.
I'm imagining him getting knocked out, to be honest.
But again, I don’t doubt at all that it would be, and hopefully will be, a massive and exciting build-up.
It ends in an armbar or a strangle regardless.
