Fedor was the last to know: "The cancellation took our company completely by surprise, as Fedor Emelianenko, M-1 Challenge fighter Mikahil Zayats, and a traveling party of 35 people from Russia consisting of Fedor's trainers, friends, family, as well as M-1 support personnel were all on a plane en route to Anaheim." "Additionally, Fedor did not learn of the cancellation until arriving at the airport and informed directly by M-1 legal counsel." "M-1 Global understands and shares the disappointment being expressed by many fans that Fedor will not be able to compete on Aug. 1 as scheduled. Fedor down to six candidates - Public wants Brett Rogers: "Belfort’s head trainer, Shawn Tompkins, said he was shocked to wake up Thursday morning without a clear-cut decision." "The latest word is that both camps agreed. Affliction wants the fight, but there’s somebody higher up, whether it be with the pay-per-view programming or what not, that’s saying that they’re holding on to see," said Tompkins. "Sources told Sherdog.com Thursday evening the list had dwindled down to six candidates, including Belfort, Jeff Monson, Paul Buentello, Brett Rogers, Muhammed Lawal and Bobby Lashley.
