Capt

Frank Mir Rips Brock Lesnar:

"It's not on the website, but today's Newsday has an article on Frank Mir. Mir said he's disappointed by how Lesnar acts bringing his wrestling tactics into MMA, while at the same time cutting a promo on Lesnar. "If I were a parent who was watching this for the first time, I wouldn't want by children to be involved in this. I almost didn't want to be involved in this." Yeah, because any responsible parent would otherwise want their children involved in this.

Mir said he refuses to accept any apology from Lesnar because he believes that was his true nature. Mir said he doesn't like how Lesnar insults people, saying "I think he's an extraordinary insecure person who isn't very smart to begin with and he insulted all those people," and said Lesnar's fight strategy was "cowardly" and "one dimensional." He also said Lesnar was a big fat (yes) guy who doesn't have nearly the athleticism he possesses."

1. If you think stomping on annoying people is okay, you have bigger problems than Mir.

2. I doubt Mir’s been stomped on much – his high school probably wasn’t populated with guys Lesnar’s size.

I’ve thought Frank Mir is one of the most disrespectful guys in MMA for a while, this just goes to prove it. He talked trash non stop before the fight, disrespected Brock, got beaten decisively, and got a taste of his own medicine. Now, he won’t just shut his mouth and get back in the gym. I see an additional ass whipping at the hands (meat fists) of Brock in the future.

As I recall, Mir said when he entered the cage with Nog, he didn’t think he (Mir) could win. That’s not trash talk.

When Lesnar beat him, Lesnar went and got back in his face. I think classless is a better word than disrespectful, but the display showed a lack of respect for the fans and the spirit of the sport, so it applies somewhat. Most fights in that position check that their opponent is okay.

Looking past Lesnar, do you really think Mir is less respectful than Neer?

What the fuck Frank, you should have been read for his “one dimensional” game plan. Don’t bitch when you thought he was going to stand and trade since he TKO’ed Cotoure…but not every wrestler who gets a KO falls under the impression they are world class strikers. I want Frank to get a rubber match, just so he can get smashed all over again.

Who would like that, exactly?

If Lesnar had checked on Mir’s heatlh, instead of getting back in his face, and had then thank the fans instead of giving them the finger, imagine how much better things would be.

I remember Jardine fighting Vera, then saying to Rogan he was upset because he’d never been boo’d before. Rogan said that’s what happens when people drink too much. Way better way to address is than Lesnar’s routine.

Lesnar had a great game plan

Also, Frank and everyone underestimated Lesnar’s ability to execute such a technical fight.

I think both guy’s mouths compliment each other well. I look forward to a future match some day. Lesnar underestimated Mir in the 1st fight, Mir underestimated Lesnar in the 2nd, the 3rd should settle everything.

I don’t think Brock underestimated Frank in their first fight. Your second pro fight, first in the UFC against a former champ you would have to be an absolute moron to underestimate your opponent. Brock may have a big mouth but he’s not an idiot.

I find it absolutely hilarious that

Frank Mir employs size and strength-negating tactics as his primary weapons, yet has consistently throughout his career been the larger man in his fights.

At some point, and I’m honestly not saying it’s now, martial artists around the world are going to have to accept wrestling as a truly elite combat sport.

He also said Lesnar was a big fat (yes) guy who doesn’t have nearly the athleticism he possesses.

He likes to fall back on his athleticism, it’s the same thing he said after Nog beat him on the TUF coaches challenge.

Mir talks trash, but getting in the face of the guy AFTER you beat him is a really classless thing to do; the only other person I can remember doing that is Penn after he beat Sherk. The crowd thought so too. Watch the fight again, they cheered for Brock after he won, and then booed him when he went back to talk shit to Frank.

Still, Frank is no angel; he came off as a dick on TUF.

and to Shaun, Penn wasn’t talking shit to Sherk; he was wiping Sherk’s blood on his hand so he could lick it off (which is worse on so many levels). As for Lesnar, the crowd cheered a little, but there were a lot of boos in there too…

by Ryjo on Jul 21, 2009 9:26 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Pretty sure Penn said something too, but the idea is the same.

Frank said before the fight it was going to be a test between technique and brute strength and it was. How bitter of a pill is it to swallow that you get dominated by a relatively new comer that doesn’t know 1/3 of the technique you know?

I personally really like Mir, and don’t care much for Lesnar, but Mir has got to shut up now. He got stomped. On the ground no less. It’s gotta be a bit humiliating for a guy like Mir. However, I think he’s actually playing for a rubber match now. He’s trying to piss Lesnar off, which probably won’t be too hard. I picked Mir to win their second match. If a third happens, he’ll get beaten again, I’m sure of it, especially after seeing what Lesnar did to him the second time around.

I love me some Sexyama!

Mir refuses to accept any apologies?

did Lesnar try to apologize for something?

I heard nothing about it if he did, and it would surprise the hell out of me if he did.

I think Mir is referring to the “apology” Lesnar gave during the post presser where he was sucking on bud light.

I love me some Sexyama!

by pud333 on Jul 21, 2009 11:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That makes sense.

In that case it definitely seems like he’s trying to bait Lesnar into talking more shit to clarify who that apology was for.

mir is right......

Brock doesn’t have the same athletic ability as he does. I mean who does really? Didn’t you see him catch All those punches with his face? That’s hard to do…..

That does take a lot of practice. Not just any man has that remarkable abilty to block punches with his face, it takes a truly superior athlete.

Plus, on a totally serious note, did you see that bozo playing soccer against Nog? He literally could not move laterally.

Let’s be honest, if it wasn’t for Mazzagatti’s (sp?) curious stoppage in their first fight, Mir would be head of security at the Spearmint Rhino right now.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

You know….all the hating on Lesnar needs to stop. Sure, he acted like an ass after he won, but I think he was sincere in his post fight conference. When you are in the ring against the man who handed you your first lost, then talks 17 months worth of crap…..I don’t know bout you, but my emotions would probably get the best of me also. People keep talking about sportsmanship, and class after a fight….with a guy like Mir, it’s pretty difficult to be classy and reserved after hearing all the trash that Mir talked.

Mir went pretty far in his trash talk! Lesnar didn’t barely say anything. He was all business. Lesnar went in there and got the job done. Mir didn’t do squat! How the hell can Mir still talk about technique when his BJJ blackbelt skills couldn’t even get him out of Lesnar’s “HALF NELSON”….not a full one, A HALF ONE!

I have come to the conclusion that Mir is either the following:

1. His ego surpasses all understanding
2. His is insane

I’m kind of hinting towards insane…….what an idiot.

I say this….all that crap Mir talked….motivated Lesnar! Obviously, Lesnar preforms best under these circumstances. All the haters better just shut up! We got Mir, Cro Cop, and Carwin all talking. It’s starting to look like a hit list to me!

AND STILL UNDISPUTED HW CHAMPION…..BROCK LESNAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shhhh

This is no place for rationality or common sense!

Hit yourself in the head with a hammer and repeat the mantra to help you:
Brock good. Thought bad. Brock good. Thought bad.

Now come on, jump on the hypocritical hate wagon and go for the ride of your life!

by Dooda on Jul 22, 2009 3:32 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Dooda, you forgot all the trash that Mir talked in the countdown shows and endless radio interviews. After beating Nog Mir yelled at a ringside sitting Brock and yelled “I’m going to make you famous”. Well he did alright.
Ironically that is a catchphrase that the Undertaker uses.
