Hamill Out, Soszynski In vs. Brandon Vera at UFC 102
Loretta Hunt over at Sherdog, is reporting that Matt Hamill has dropped out of his UFC 102 bout with Brandon Vera due to a knee injury, and will be replaced by rising star Krzysztof Soszynski.
Krzysztof Soszynski has agreed to face Brandon Vera in a light heavyweight contest at UFC 102 on Aug. 29 in Portland, Ore.
Once bout agreements are inked, Soszynski will replace Matt Hamill, who sustained a knee injury, according to multiple sources close to the bout. Hamill could not be immediately reached for confirmation.
"The Polish Experiment" (18-8-1, 3-0 UFC) failed to get past the slick BJJ of Vinny Magalhaes in the semi-finals of the 8th season of TUF, but since then, he's gone on a 3-0 tear, with none of his opponents surviving past the second round. Most recently, the Team Quest member kept his trusty kimura in the bag, and knocked out Andre Gusmao with punches instead, at UFC 98 back in May.

The question is...,
Is the bet still on? Subo vs weoweoweo right?

Even better fight for Vera.

Yeah. This is why the bet is off. K-Sos would get brutalized by Hamill.

Well, his career is on the rise at the moment having won his last six fights (three in the UFC). Calling him a star is a bit generous, though, obviously.

I am actually intrigued about this matchup. The immediate gut reaction has to be that Vera should win hands down, and more easily than against Hamill. But Vera just hasn’t really looked the same as the “old” Vera, and Sos just seems like one of those wild card guys — one of those guys who can come out and pull out a shocking win or a shocking loss at any time. Just a gut feeling, but I’m not sure any result in this one will surprise me. Don’t get me wrong, I was a huge fan of Vera before the layoff and I’d love to see him return to that form — but I’m not sure it’s going to happen.
