Character styles in UFC 09: Undisputed
Let me start off by saying that I love this game alot. I pre-ordered it, ripped it out of plastic packaging as soon as I got it, and played for three days straight. But while I was playing, I noticed something that really just took me out of the whole experience: Fighter styles! By that, I mean when I picked Keith Jardine and went against Rashad Evans, I expected to see that familiar "herky-jerky" style that Keith fights with and try to hit a Rashad Evans that is dancing around the ring and bobbing and weaving like crazy. But that's not it. All I was really doing was acting and moving the same that Lyoto Machida or any other kickboxer in the game moves (and could Lyoto not have had his own Karate style?). Now I know this is just the groundwork for future sequels that will get better in time, become more realistic, and have a better budget (assuming THQ got themselves out of debt), and not be a game that didn't get to be as great as it could if the designers weren't in such financial troubles. But like I said, it just kind of killed the matches for me a little bit when I was Rampage Jackson and couldn't knock out Houston Alexander after 8 clean uppercuts or when I was Anderson Silva and couldn't submit Drew McFedries by the second time, even though his stats are terrible compared to Anderson's (or maybe I just realllly suck at the game). Like I said, I understand the companies issues and I'm sure the future games are gonna be amazing, I just really wish I could play the fighters and have their styles portray them instead of fighting repetitive matches that look the same (but I do give them credit on the speed, cause Mike Swick and Anthony Johnson are beastly!). Oh and just to give you guys a good laugh, I just knocked out Thiago Alves with GSP in 22 seconds on Expert!

I've played many iterations of boxing games
and don’t recall a game that had significant differences in boxer styles. They were generic “slugger” or “technician” but nothing identifiably unique. I think the Def Jam game had about five more diverse styles, and even that seemed unique at the time. If this were incorporated into an MMA game, that would be wonderful, but previous experience leads me to believe it’s unlikely.
With the amount of time EA has spent developing their MMA game, you’ll finally get what you wished for ;)
i said it before as long as thq is at the ufc helm don’t expect much improvement look at there smackdown franchise essential same game for the last 10 years and usually when they do add improvements they take out something that was good my prediiction for undisputed2010 new fighters and there big surprise addition entrances that is unless the ea game can force some competition
I agree that EA getting involved with an MMA game can only be good for us players. No competition breeds complacency and I’d hate to see a stale UFC game franchise.

yea mabye
it might be good but with no fighters worth paying 60bucks for. Coture might be in it and a few after him with some star power but the list is very thin after that. Its almost like the Madden Rule this one was the Hook and next they’ll change anther small detail and the year after another little detail and so on and so on.
thay could of done it all this year but they new we would buy the next one if they had room for inprovment

my prediction for ea mma is there gonna take the fightnight idea and have very few actual fighters few big names such as fedor possibly couture and other recognisable fighters from the states fill the lighter weights with recognisable japanese names and then include there create a fighter mode with a similar legacy single play and championship online
