Mark Munoz and Brandon Vera to Train With Antonio Rodrigo Noguiera, Lyoto Machida, and Anderson Silva at Team Black House
Promoted from the FanPosts by Kid Nate.
Former UFC heavyweight champs Randy Couture and Antonio Rodrigo Noguiera is set to headline UFC 102 in August. Mark Munoz will also be competing on the same card and now it looks like he will be training with one of those two MMA legends:
Mark Munoz: Setup a training session with Antonio Rodrigo Noguiera tomorrow. It's on like donkey kong!! Thankful for the opportunity!!
Anton Tabuena: Wow.. That's big. Who else have you trained with in this camp?
Mark Munoz: Gonna train with Little Noguiera, Lyoto (Machida), Anderson (Silva), (Rafael) Feijao, the whole Blackhouse team. Can't wait. Exciting!!!!
Mark Munoz will be making his middleweight debut against Nick Catone on August. At 5-1, the 2001 NCAA wrestling champ is a very promising prospect that is still at the developing stages of his career. He will look to speed things up as he trains with team Black House, a star studded team that houses a few of the very best fighters in the world.
Team Black House has an impressive roster that includes former PRIDE and UFC heavyweight champion, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida, UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva, Antonio Rogerio Noguiera (#7 Ranked LHW), Rafael Feijao, and former WEC champ Paulo Filho.
UPDATE: According to Mark's latest tweet, Brandon Vera also trained with Noguiera at Alliance in San Diego:
Trained in San Diego w/ Noguiera & (Brandon) Vera. Did Muay Thai for the 1st time with Coach Billy. It was the beginning of a beautiful relationship!
Brandon Vera will also be on the UFC 102 card and will be facing Matt Hamill. It will be interesting to see how this Filipino-Brazilian connection develops in the long run.

Hopefully he doesn't have problems cutting weight.

He will. Even as a wrestler, when his body is so adapted to fighting at the 205 pound weight class, and him dropping 20 pounds is going to really affect him and I think cost him the fight.

I don't think so
he wrestled closer to 185 than 205 if memory serves and was way undersized in his UFC fight against Hamill.

He wrestled at 197 back in 2001
He says he knows his body well and he could make the cut. Hope he’s right.

He said that 195 would be the most suitable weightclass for him..
At 205 he has some extra weight and it would be easy to cut to 195..
Those 10 additional lbs are when the trouble comes.. But he says he’s revamping his whole diet and the way he lives and trains for this, so maybe he’d do okay.

I’m a Munoz fan, good for him! It sucks that he had to get KTFO in his debut. He looked kind of soft and pudgy in that fight. Looks in better shape now.

Yeah he's really undersized at LHW
If he cuts weight without troubles, he could cause problems for a lot of MWs.

i think he’s still got alot of learning to do, to be a ufc-level fighter, but this is certainly a step in the right direction. should be a fun fight.

UFC definitely aren’t babying Munoz, Rosholt, or Hendricks. I wonder who Munoz will get matched up against

I'm still trying to figure out how Blackhouse works
As far as I know their gym is in L.A., but I know that Lyoto does the vast majority of his training in Brazil. Do the rest of the guys do most of their training at the Blackhouse gym or just come in for a few weeks at a time?

I think they probably have focused camps there for a few weeks at a time. Blackhouse really seems very hush hush about it.

Mark Munoz toTrain WithGet His Ass Kicked By Antonio Rodrigo Noguiera, Lyoto Machida, and Anderson Silva at Team Black House
Fixed :-D
But in all seriousness, Munoz would be an absolutely gigantic 185er in a division that lacks amazing wrestlers right now (sans Hendo).

are you still that confident in hamill now? :)

Yeah. I love me some Hamill. I think he’s as underrated as Vera is overrated.

Hamill by being unable to hear about how great Vera is.
