GSP cause we already saw that..
Condit cause koscheck will strike with him and get beat up.
Kampmann by late round stoppage.. Or close decision.
Shields cause Karo is overrated and never trains
Fitch by murder
Hardy via age
Thiago via miracle punch
Alves via takedown d and killer strikes..

by subo on Jul 2, 2009 6:58 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

The guy lost against kim..

How in the hell will he beat shields? ..I can’t imagine him subbing shields, and I don’t see him KOing shields either.

by Anton Tabuena on Jul 2, 2009 10:19 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree. Karo is so hit or miss. Shields would take him down, run Karo’s gas tank to empty and finish him in the second round.

Well if ya didnt throw out some random upsets every now and then this would be a pretty damn boring “fantasy” bracket with the top seeds winning every time. Just go with it…

Weo

is it better with the pictures?

by SouthAlaBamaRampage on Jul 2, 2009 11:01 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yup.. :)

But if you really want it to be better (although it would mean more work), you could photoshop/paint an actual tournament bracket then just put the names in as text.. Save the picture, then upload it here.. Edit the pic then replace the old one after every round.. You can make it really simple if u want, like the brackets they have in the TUF wikipedia pages. Just a few lines, colors and text, and you’d be good. :)

I don’t know, it’s just a suggestion. It really would take more time but IMO it would look prettier.. Haha.. But you don’t have to do that if you don’t want to. This is a fun series you’re doing, and it deserves a Rec either way. :)

by Anton Tabuena on Jul 2, 2009 11:22 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

If you wanna get really OC and detailed you could make it look like the bellator brackets in their site.

But maybe that’s too much already hahhaha. Just keep it simple so it won’t be that big a hassle.. :)

I’ll look into and go ahead and start making the middleweight bracket now and i can just take my time

Added “unofficial” to the title. Feel free to keep these up, but please add unofficial in the title when you do. Thanks.

whats the reason behind that? just wondering.

by JaTinkles on Jul 2, 2009 10:30 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

GSP. He is GSP.

Condit. Kos just has his lapses, so I’m going with one here.

kampmann. I think Martin will be a contender at 170.

Shields. He is Karo.

Fitch. Not really impressed by Thompson and I think Fitch GnPs him out.

Hughes. By unfortunate blanket.

Swick. One punch puts you in the rankings?

Alves. Look at the picture…

If you're not submitting, you're just rolling around with another guy.

by BJJDenver on Jul 2, 2009 2:38 PM EDT reply actions   1 recs

hahaha… that is the best reason for Alves victory. +1

by midwestbred on Jul 2, 2009 6:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Karo would beat shields...

I know he’s had his problems… but Karo would beat him standing, and wouldn’t get subbed… Karo has never been liked much, but he is a much more talented fighter than given credit for… Only way Shields wins is if the “worst” Karo shows up… If the Karo that shows up isn’t doped up on pain killers, he beats Jake imo.

by Loot on Jul 2, 2009 3:31 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Actually

He’s way less talented than he is given credit for.. See people are picking him over one of the top WWs in the world.

Matt Hughes d. Hardy by general douchebaggery

Swick d. Thiago by being Quick(er)

OK, round two

GSP, Kampmann (tough, tough call), Fitch (not so tough) and Alves.

The fun thing about any hypothetical Grand Prix (outside of Heavyweight) is that most of the fighters in it are in the UFC, thus almost all of these matchups are possible.

Don’t do the EA game, Jake. Come to Zuffa.

by subo on Jul 3, 2009 1:43 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I've got d same picks..

Tough to call, but I think kampmann could be good enough to keep it standing.. But if that ever happens I’d be rooting for shields.. I’ll be rooting for condit too, but it would be hard fir him to win against GSP.

by Anton Tabuena on Jul 3, 2009 3:02 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

GSP by first round TKO stoppage, sorry Condit, love ya, but your not quite there yet.
Shields by RNC in the second round, after Kampmann slips throwing a kick.
Fitch by me hating Matt Hughes.
Alves by first round KO.

Yeah, I didn’t really have to give my “hows” to go with my picks…but it was the only way I could talk myself into actually participating.

I think GSP wouldn’t be able to finish Condit. GSP would dominate the scorecards with TDs and GnP, but somewhere during a transition I see Carlos landing a big knee or uppercut to put GSP out.

by MattPa on Jul 3, 2009 3:49 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I see GSP scoring one takedown and spending the rest of the round doing whatever the hell he wants. Not a very sweepable guy, that GSP.

by subo on Jul 3, 2009 8:21 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

GSP. I love Condit, but I think the GnP will be to much for him.

Shields. Again, I really like Kampmann at 170, but I think he knocks down Shields, who the pulls out a sub.

Fitch. His blanket is younger.

Alves. I like what Swick is doing at 170 also, but Alves crushes him.

If you're not submitting, you're just rolling around with another guy.

Shields. Again, I really like Kampmann at 170, but I think he knocks down Shields, who the pulls out a subo.

2nd Round

GSP via #1 pfp fighter in world
Kampmann via 1st round decimation….shields couldnt hang with his stand up
Fitch via boring decision or armbar
Alves via stronger, more dangerous striking

Shields Via 1st Round Submission

There is about a good chance of this happening as me having sex with Eva Mendez, people on here really can’t belive that Shields would not less submit Karo that is insane.

by Raker on Jul 3, 2009 3:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Karo, in my humble opinion, is done.

-GSP d. Condit by any way he wants (in this case GSP d. Condit by Ki Blast)
-Shields d. Kampmann by flying gogoplata
-after three rounds of pure lopsided gore Fitch d. Hughes by split decision (Cecil People is judging)
-Alves d. Swick by 25 lbs. size advantage after rehydrating

GSP by patient domination the same way he picked apart Fitch.

Shields by outlasting Kampmann and choking him late in the 2nd.

Fitch by decision, stopping Hughes’ takedowns all night long.

Alves by flying devastation, catching Swick with heavy hands and knees after being kept at range for most of the fight.
