Jesse Ventura shows support for the UFC in an interview with Larry King and helps the host by cluing him in on the proper terminology. Larry seems a little worried about this "ultimate boxing" thing. Ventura also expresses disapproval toward Brock Lesnar's post-fight antics at UFC 100.

Dear Jesse,
Loved you in Predator. Best movie in the whole wide universe.
Oh, and it’s “MMA”, not “ultimate fighting”.

“helps the host by cluing him in on the proper improper terminology”
Still, better than ‘ultimate boxing’. lol
Sometimes I feel like these guys are just acting stupid like if they don’t know anything about MMA on purpose. Especially the guys at PTI. Ughh I hate them when they talk about MMA. They sound so sarcastic at times.
“Ground game?
*chuckle
What’s a ground game?” -Mike Wilbon
GSP: I pulled my groin.
Greg Jackson: I don't care Georges! HIT HIM WITH YOUR GROIN!
Yes, yes...
I get that “ultimate fighting” isn’t the best description for the entire sport. MMA is the best term, but the UFC often refers to its own product as “ultimate fighting.” It’s fine to take issue with the use of the term. With this in mind, I would say that Ventura was technically correct even if you don’t like the use of “ultimate fighting.” “Ultimate boxing” on the other hand is just laughable.
In summary: I don’t condone the use of the term ultimate fighting in lieu of the more descriptive term of mixed martial arts (MMA). However, if Dana White calls MMA – produced by the UFC – ultimate fighting, it must be okay for Jesse “The Body” Ventura to follow suit, because Dana knows best. Right…????

BTW…who decided MMA was the name of the sport? From what I have researched Antonio Inoki started using it first to refer to his worked and non-worked matches in the 70’s.
A man should never waste an opportunity to keep his mouth shut.
Why
do I let these people who know nothing of MMA bother me? How could you possibly not love this sport and watch it regularly? ughhh it amazes me how horrible people think MMA is but have never watched a show in their life!

“With a stoner machine guy, no one should ever get that close.”
Now…Was this the best part of the interview, or what?
How taste my pee pee pee? LIKE WIN!!! Thank you Machida!
Stoner machine gun = M16
Eugene Morrison Stoner (Born November 22, 1922 in Gosport, Indiana; died April 24, 1997 (aged 74) in Palm City, Florida) is the man most associated with the design of the AR-15, which was adopted by the military as the M16. He is regarded by most historians, along with John Browning and John Garand, as one of the United States’ most successful military firearms designers of the 20th century.
No big deal.
Ultimate Fighting or MMA it is all the same (in most peoples books). I would rather see it called MMA (because that is what it is), but I don’t lose my mind if in an interview it is called one or the other. I don’t think either guy is an MMA or boxing purist, so no big deal.
You have to remember, some people on these boards go crazy if you make a mistake in your writing, or an interview, and call one thing another. I was writing on a post the other day and made a mistake and said I could see a 9-9 round (which was my bad), when what I ment to say was 10-10 (I do know it is a 10 point must system), but some “guy” (notice mods I did not use a bad word, so settle down I got the memo about calling people mean names) who was going up and down the topic being debated taking shots at everyone (which brought out my shot at the guy). My bad for resopnding to the guy (internet fights are a joke), but it shows that people get “mad” for no reason and go after people because they think they are the MMA guru’s because they watch TUF or work out a gym once or twice a week.
So in the end, no big deal, I just like seeing MMA get noticed more and I can live with “little” mistakes at this point. No reason to lose my mind over semantics.
Hi There,
Can we stop bickering about the terminology and notice that Jesse Ventura actually made intelligent points here?
And Nitro is absolutely correct: http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2008/7/30/582628/jesse-ventura-says-mma-is
he called it ultimate martial arts in response to it being called ultimate boxing
as in “no it’s closer to being a contest of martial arts than a contest of absurd boxing” in case that needed clarification after watching and listening
Or just make fun of his name or governorship or something.
Everybody fightin' bout a spoonful...
If you dont even know the proper name of a sport you have no buisness talking about it on your show its getting rediculous.
That’s just silly.
Getting exposure on Larry King Live is good for the sport, even if Larry does screw up and call it Ultimate Boxing.
