Jim Ross, WWE Announcer Analyzes Brock Lesnar's Post-Fight Antics

Brocklesnar-belt_1__medium

Lesnar's post match, unscripted remarks did not completely surpirse (sic) me. Those that do not personally know Lesnar as do I need to understand that his level of intensity and fury is scary. Brock has said many things in private conversations that I have been a part of that would make one do a double take. He is an intimidating, emotional jock who has been known for speaking first and thinking later. I don't think Brock is an inherently evil person whatsoever but his level of competitiveness can be dangerous. It's like Brock "moonsaulting" at Wrestlemania 19 in Seattle against Kurt Angle when being advised not to prior to the bout. Lesnar was told that men his size don't do top rope Moonsaults which was the wrong thing to say to the former NCAA All American and National Champion. Lesnar came close to tragically ending his athletic career that night while defying logic and doing what others told him that he could not do.

Lesnar, as I pointed out a couple of days ago, loves to be jeered...the louder the better. Brock takes his game to another level when he knows that it's him against the world. ...When Lesnar, who detested the travel and emotional demands of WWE's schedule, was the most "hated villain" on the roster he was at his happiest in sports entertainment.

Plus, let's not forget that some people genuinely enjoy being a badass bully. Lesnar, in a ring, mat, or octagon, embraces that persona. Brock may say that he did not like school but the South Dakota farm boy is far from being a dumb jock. Lesnar has plenty of common sense and knows, as Eric Bischoff wrote, that controversy does in deed create cash.

Jim Ross, announcer for the WWE and former head of talent relations blogs about his ex-employee Brock Lesnar's post UFC 100 blowup.

And he COULD hit it

There’s footage of him doing it in a match, from the top rope. It’s just not the smartest thing to try 15 minutes into a match.

Vader did it plenty of times

by The Bronzeville Bully on Jul 12, 2009 11:03 PM EDT up reply actions

Vader also crushed a guy’s spine because he powerbombed him too hard, not a guy I would trust in the ring.

the big show or" the giant" back then in the WCW did it once too….barely. that was impressive and scary. a soon as he got to the top rope, he started teetering back and forth. i can’t remember himever doing it again.

by bdw on Jul 13, 2009 1:01 AM EDT up reply actions

You guys are confused. That’s a moonsault. Lesnar performed a shooting star press. That’s where you’re facing forward and do a backflip while jumping towards your downed opponent. Far more difficult maneuver, and one that proves just how amazing an athlete Lesnar is for his size.

I poop rainbows.

I was there when he did it. It was an untelevised card in Minneapolis.

I poop rainbows.

by Blackout612 on Jul 12, 2009 11:38 PM EDT up reply actions

Yep SSP

He climbed the wrong (opposite) turnbuckle, realized it half-way, but seemed like he knew he’d look stupid if he got down and walked across the ring to do it the right way.

by asa on Jul 13, 2009 6:18 AM EDT up reply actions

Ha.. Now that you remind me of it, that’s exactly how it went down. He’s got some balls, though. Might have just thought “fuck it, I landed it from three feet fewer last time— should be able to do this”.

I poop rainbows.

i dont think jim ross was the head of the WWE nor was he brock's employer..

I think he was just a commentator there right? ..but yeah, i pretty much agree with what Jim Ross said..

he was VP and the announcer, but he was Brock’s boss as head of talent relations.

Very insightful.

Ross knows the guy on a semi-professional basis (from Brocks time in the WWE/WWF), and that was was some good insight.

It does seem that he has a lot of aggression (for good or bad) when he is on the mat/ring/octagon, the only problem will be if it ever carries that aggression with him out of the octagon. There’s nothing wrong with the me against the world attitiude, but when you live like that, it will make a lot of people look at you sideways when you always have a chip on your shoulder.

Thats why, what?

Because he lives in the woods he has a chip on his shoulder, or that makes him have that me against the world attitude? I’m not really following you here, could you clarify.

Also, he also has a job that puts him in the public eye A LOT. Sponsers like Budwiser might have an issue when one fo the UFC’s top guys bad mouths them after a fight, because they don’t pay him. He can live in the woods all he wants, but then don’t walk around with a chip on you shoulder because of things like Bud not paying you. At the end of the day, it will cost you (in more ways than most people think).
