Cage Force/Valkyrie Results: "V Hajime" Wins Tournament, Earns Rematch With Yuka Tsuji

1247404647_medium

Despite being taken down a number of times in their three round scrap, Mei Yamaguchi (better known as "V Hajime") kept active from underneath and kicked her way to a split decision victory over Kyoko Takabayashi, winning Greatest Common Multiple's four-woman mini-tournament and earning the right to challenge Valkyrie featherweight champion Yuka Tsuji at an upcoming event. Yamaguchi dropped a unanimous decision to "Vale Tudo Queen" Tsuji last November before going on to her pair of tournament wins.

In the main event of the evening's split card, Laughter7's Kazuhiro Hamanaka appeared to be on his way to a decision win before earning a more painful "W" by way of disqualification. Hamanaka's opponent - Pancrase and DREAM veteran Alavutdin Gadjiev - was disqualified after committing two fouls in the second round (grabbing the cage and kneeing a downed Hamanaka in the head), and once again landing illegal knees in the third.

I’m praying for Valkyrie to make some money and stick around. Thanks for the update.
