Arturo "Thunder" Gatti Found Dead
37-year old Arturo "Thunder" Gatti, the Canadian brawler who became the adopted son of New Jersey's Boardwalk Hall and one of the most memorable, gritty, and exciting action fighters of his era, has reportedly been found dead in a condo he was renting in Brazil.
Gatti is best-known for his epic trilogy with "Irish" Micky Ward, and also for his valiant, overmatched efforts against the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Oscar de la Hoya. His career was one to be fondly remembered, and it will be. He made a lot of fans simply because he fought his guts out every single time he was in the ring. I say with all praise that he was a tremendously limited fighter who made himself a world titlist and a name in this sport because of his courage as a fighter and his willpower to keep fighting and fighting until he had nothing more to give.
Obviously today is a day for UFC 100 on this site but Gatti is a combat sports legend and someone who deserves our respect and our acknowledgement that this is a really tragic event.

The details surrounding his death are pretty suspicious, I hope he gets some kind of justice for what happened to him.

The spin move and shuffle he did against Gomez was classic as was the trilogy with Ward and basically the rest of Gatti’s entire career, always was fun to watch, sad day…

I haven’t followed boxing for a while, but when I did, Gatti was always one of my favorite fighters to watch. Sad day.

Thunder silenced
Gatti will be missed, he was one of few boxers that capture the essence of what makes boxing great. The old boxing phrase “win tonight, be exciting next time” had no place with him and fans of boxing benefited. RIP

Amazing fighter. My dad was at the first Gatti/Ward fight, so I tuned in to watch it, and it was the single best boxing match I’ve ever seen live.
RIP.
