Brock's Arsenal:

1) Back of the head punch
2) 90 2-inch punches in 20 seconds that don’t end fights
3) Using his 40 lb. weight advantage to lie on top of people

What about it?

The punch to the back of Randy’s head ended it. Randy was done after that.

wow

you have a pretty loose definition of back of the head.

and what is the end of a fight

i guess

when you can’t defend yourself and the ref pulls you off, that can’t be the end, could it?

Quick question: Randy or Nog?

Nog

because he’s big and ugly, quick question, why are you asking.

by proflex on Jul 11, 2009 3:05 PM EDT up reply actions

I have Nog as well. And because I felt like asking a quick question mate. Another quick question: GSP by skill or Alves by luck?

Very nice. Akiyama by sexy submission or Belcher by brutal beating?

there’s no question, if it’s not sexy, then it just doesn’t work, Akiyama

by proflex on Jul 11, 2009 3:28 PM EDT up reply actions

Then we agree, sexy conquers all. Fitch by bitch-slap or Thiago by fluke?

by FutureChamp on Jul 11, 2009 3:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Fitch went five rounds with GSP. Thiago got dominated until an uppercut landed. I’d say a bitch-slap would put Paulo down for the count. And finally, Lesnar by homophobic man-handling or Mir by repeat kneebar?

by FutureChamp on Jul 11, 2009 4:33 PM EDT up reply actions

I have to

go with the homophobe. Unless Mir has been training with a hairless gorilla, I personally don’t think Mir is prepared for this fight, he’s taking it to lightly.

by proflex on Jul 11, 2009 4:37 PM EDT up reply actions

Sorry to say proflex,

this is where we differ. I think Mir just has to many ground tools to destroy Lesnar, so when Lesnar does go into wrestling mode and takes him down, Frank will pull something out of his ass. But hey, I’ve been wrong before. Good predictions though bro.

what can i say

I try, I`m actually on the fence regarding Mir and Lesnar, judging by the way Mir has been in interviews I really see him losing this fight, but it could go either way.

by proflex on Jul 11, 2009 4:44 PM EDT up reply actions

That's my issue too,

I keep thinking he’s taking Lesnar lightly, but did you see him at the weigh-ins? He was in the best shape of his career, so I know he’s expecting a war. This match-up is one of the harder ones to determine.

If Brock wins in a convincing fashion with a KO or submission, I will be the first to admit I am wrong. Until then, he’s just an unrefined big guy to me.

2) Striking- He may not be quicker than Lesnar, but his striking could be way more technical and catch Lesnar. It’s not like Lesnar’s striking is unbeatable, it’s just strong and predictable.
3) Submission- Can Mir take Lesnar down? Doubt it. Can he possibly pull guard and land a triangle choke or a rear naked choke or even a gogoplata for all we know? Most defintily.
4) Kicks- Lesnar has good knee’s in the clinch, but Mir kicks are stronger. A takedown is a no-brainer if he throws leg kicks enough, but mixing things up and then landing a kick could chop Lesnar down over the course of a round. Even a head kick could land if timed properly.
Point is, Lesnar is not unbeatable. That’s been proven, he just has alot of advantages in his power and wrestling. Could Lesnar win? Hell yea! Could Mir win just as easily? HELL YEA!

Thank you for looking at both sides of the coin

I couldn’t agree more. Many MMA fans see A LOT in Lesnar, and for good reason because he does have much skill learned in a short period of time, but many do make him out to be unbeatable because of mainly his size. Because Lesnar is still new to MMA, no one really knows if he will make rookie mistakes. For all we know, he may get the case of the Koscheck’s or Sherk’s where he’ll think he’s a kickboxer (I am not saying that this will definitely happen, but just using it as an example).

by chrisbboy82 on Jul 11, 2009 4:02 PM EDT up reply actions

If he start's to get Sean Sherk syndrome,

and think’s he some devastating kickboxer, then I cannot WAIT till Carwin fights him.

Carwin vs Lesnar will be awesome. I have a feeling that it will happen sooner rather than later.

Btw, guys, this discussion is so last week. The fight is in few hours, we’ll have our answer.

It kills time though. I’m so sick of waiting for the fight by now, so convo’s like this help. Me and proflex are going over predictions right now.

Predictions?

Mir
GSP
Hendo
Sexy
Fitch
Bonnar
Danzig
Jones
Grant
Lawlor
Gugerty

Loved Mir’s striking vid. If he can work that lead upper tonight, we’re gonna see a frustrated Brock. Brock goes for double leg from frustration, Mir sprawls early, spins around to the back, sinks the hooks in, and it’s RNC time! Oh my God! Frank Mir does it again and is now the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world! ROCKY!!!!! ROCKY IS IN THE BUILDING!!!! kidding. :)

I’m not sure, I can see Lesnar grabbing Mir by back of the head in that situation and just slamming him to the floor repeatedly, Just my opinion

by proflex on Jul 11, 2009 5:59 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m just gonna hope he passes out before that happens. I really don’t see how he could escape a Mir submission anyways, cause Mir already described in the videos that once he locks in a sub, there’s a small window of oppritunity to get out before you tap or pass out. But what you just said sounds extremely painful.

Head movement and Strikes

Watch Mir talk about head movement. He is not the best person to be giving this demo. Yes head movement is important, but he is moving his entire body weight for the sake of moving his head, several times moving his feet which prohibits you from getting power from your legs. What he should be doing is using his legs and core to move his head while keeping his weight centered over his feet. Moving your legs leaves you off balance, takes away from your power and saps your energy.

Watch this guy move then watch the mir video again:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6W_nAcQKR5I

here is how to learn it. If you want to get fast at it you need to stay centered.
