Tito Ortiz Is Full Of S--t
I don't know about the rest of you, but I consider myself a pretty shameless person. That's primarily a result of the fact that I tend to not do things about which I'd be ashamed. This includes getting in front of hundreds of people and spewing bullshit that I know a) isn't true and b) will get the hopes of MMASupremacy up.
Tito Ortiz is a different kind of shameless. This time, it's about his brand new organization - and the fact that it's primary partner's director of communications has never fucking heard of it:
However, when Fanhouse contacted Strikeforce director of communications Mike Afromowitz Tuesday, he made it pretty clear that no agreement is in place with Ortiz.
"I don't know anything about it," Afromowitz said.
Afromowitz doesn't strike me as the kind of person who would say one thing publicly while something completely different was going on behind the scenes. When he said that this was the first time he had ever heard of Strikeforce working with Punishment Fighting Championships, I genuinely believed him.
Hat tip to Fightlinker for confirming what we already know.

My Thoughts on Tito
……..
Andy Reid is the only coach in NFL history that uses the pass to set up the pass.
The head is great, but the veins in the hands are creeping me out. Rec’d.

This should be rec’d soley for the dig on supremecy. Let’s speculate!
Spinning out solid gold, like Rumpelstiltskin.
Eh,
This is not Subo’s best work. I’ve seen better.
In fact, I KNOW he can do better. Thats how much faith I have in him.
Does this mean Fedor/Tito at 210 ISN’T going to happen? I’m shocked.

Obviously not, or people wouldn’t keep reporting what he says like it’s news.

I figure if you’re going to update a big FanPost with information, I can make a small one debunking it.

Tito just wants to somehow stay relevant
Since Tito has not fought since Machida, he has really struggled to stay relevant in MMA. He is also getting older and hasn’t really evolved with the sport unlike most of the new fighters out there. Tito just needs to get out there and fight even though I know that his best asset has always been his mouth.
You have to admit, he was able to put Machida in a difficult situation, where no one else has. Just look at the Evans fight.
Evans is almost
more over rated than Barnett. But yes nice triangle against Machida.
A great fighter, because Rashad Evans is not at all overrated. One career loss (to the undefeated Dragon) and wins over Chuck and Forrest.

Great? Thats a word thrown out there too much. GSP, Fedor, Anderson are great.
Forrest, not so much. Good fits him much better.

So he is relevant because
he is the only one who Machida in a difficult situation? Man you really have low standards for revlevancy!
Arguing on the internet is like being in the special olympics, even when you win you are still retarded.
If you read the comment above the gif, it states “Last Moment Of Relevancy”.

I was responding to your comment
where you pointed out how Tito put Machida in a dangerous spot as some sort of accolade.

Well, I Will Make Some Use Of This FanPost
“I’m in negotiations right now with Strikeforce and working with CBS and Showtime, so all three of us are going back and forth to make a contract that makes sense to me,” he told MMAWeekly.com recently.
“Hopefully by October I’ll be competing. We’re finishing the contract I’d say with CBS, Showtime, and Strikeforce and making a deal that UFC can’t match.”
Why the fuck would CBS or Showtime negotiate with Tito fucking Ortiz?
by Derek Suboticki on Jul 1, 2009 8:47 PM EDT up reply actions
Are you really asking that question? Simple, he was on Apprentice. Gina was on AG. It is their evil plot to take NBC stars and make them their own, but fighting in UFC style combat. =)

“I feel sorry for the person they have me fight, but I do need one warm-up fight,” Tito said. “I managed to come off a huge back surgery. It’s been a year since I’ve competed. I think one warm-up fight to get things going.”
“After that, I don’t want no more warm-up fights. I’m hoping by my fourth fight, possibly fight Fedor Emelianenko at a catchweight. That’d be something that I’m looking forward to possibly by the middle of next year.”
lol
I’m sure Vadim & Fedor would love nothing more than to add another high profile former UFC champion’s scalp to their collection, but if Tito wants it to happen he’s going to have to man up and fight at HW. Of course, that presumes Tito really does want to fight Fedor, which I doubt.
Ha! You doubt Tito wants to fight Fedor? Dude, c’mon now you know Tito would LOVE to be the one that finally beats Fedor. He would never for the rest of his life time shutup about it either.
“You know I’ve been doing this for 17 years now and I’m the one that beat Fedor. I’m a pioneer in this sport, I put my heart and soul in it for the fans, blah blah blah etc etc, rinse repeat.

Tito ducked Chuck for two years when he was at his peak. I have little doubt that a past-prime Tito would find a dicktuck if a Fedor fight ever started to look like a real possibility.
But…Tito is afraid of no man!
:]P

He has fought the best of the world in the men.
A man should never waste an opportunity to keep his mouth shut.
Haha Tito and Bush are brothers from another mother.

The UFC would love this. Tito wins and knocks Fedor down a peg or two. Fedor wins and gets exposure for beating Tito and its a win that doesn’t mean much in the way of rankings.
I don’t think Dana would like it at all. He doesn’t want Tito back. I bet he wanted Sylvia or Arlovski to win though.

If Fedor lost to Tito then Dana would really laugh at both of them, Tito would still be mostly irrelevant to the average fans at this point in his career and Fedor’s rep would be all but trashed. I mean Tito would be talking about how great he was for beating Fedor and Dana White would be pointing out that Tito hadn’t won a fight against anyone except Ken Shamrock and a split decision against a young Forrest Griffin since 2005. It would give Dana all kinds of ways to spin it so he could make them both look sad.
You see, that’s why I hope Tito becomes a promoter at some point…because in this MMA game, he is second only to Dana White at getting people to love him, hate him, and ultimately, care about everything he says or does.
the
only difference is
Dana = good business man, built UFC to BILLION dollar company
Tito = Huge head with zero brains, married a nasty porn star and to barrow a quote from BE “Tito Ortiz has taken more shots to the face than Jenna Jameson.”
Does that actually prove your point? I mean, Tito still has zero experience at fight promotion and lacks the resources Dana White enjoys. You need WAAAAYY more than publicity to succeed as a promoter. Better role would be as a competent promoter’s mouthpiece, minus the part that actually involves talking. Kind of like a 3-D version of those cardboard cutouts from the Super Hulk press conference.

It takes more than controversy to make a promoter, I suppose.

Remember
Let me start by saying NOT a Tito Ortiz fan but he did help make UFC what it is today. Guys like him, Pulver, Hughes brought the UFC to the main stream. Dana has a billion dollar comopany because of him. Probably would have made it there without him but it would have taken a lot longer.
So if Tito was never in the UFC
it would not be where it is today? I just want you to be clear please.
Bottom line is Dana and Co doesn’t want Tito’s mug all over CBS with a shiney belt around his waist. They aren’t stupid, Dana knows he’s a huge draw. That’s why he tries to insult him and get everyone in the planet against him. Just because you guys (some harcore fans) hate Tito doesn’t mean he has no fans. Both he and Liddell are the most famous MMA fighters on the planet. Tito in Strikeforce on CBS for the strap would pull ridonkulous numbers and everyone knows it. Yes, even you guys that hate his guts and bigass head will watch lol!
Anyway for me right now, I’m done with Tito news. Sign the damn contract and don’t say jack shit until you do.
Mike Goldberg: "You know Joe, growing up as a child Kimbo Slice was never given any bread with his meals. This is why he insists people... give him his bread."
Tito has a lot of name value but he did get buried pretty good by the UFC and he hasn’t looked the same in a long long time, putting a belt around his waist on another show would be written off as Tito in the minor leagues. What Tito needs is to have a couple of high profile fights outside the UFC where he really looks good against top competition and to build his rep back to a level to match his fame. The longer he sits on the sidelines the harder it will be.
When I saw so many comments and recs I was kind of hoping that it would be an empty fanpost with just a title.
I dislike Matt Hughes and Twidder.
