Quote of the Day: Jamie Varner

Promoted to the front page from the FanPosts by Luke Thomas.

WOW you can love me or hate me but you cant deny the fact I fought my ass off with a broken hand and broken foot! Cowboy is tough there is no denying that fact... But the fact he has no wrestling and drops his hands alot plays right into my game... I have a good jui-jitsu game...so think what you want, the cowboy loses the rematch!
That is BS (in reference to looking for a "tune-up" match) because if you listen to a mmaweekly radio I am quoted saying "champions dont have time to bleed or time for a tune up"... I'm the champ for a reason and i'll prove it again and then everyone will be saying cowboy who?

So get ur facts right and cowboy is really acting professional btw so he can be ur champ but the belt is never leaving my waist.... thanks for coming out!!!! I'll never come on this forum again! I want to thank all my supporters and for all u cowboy nut hugger I look forward to shutting all of u up in SEPT! Thanks and good night! I gotta get up early to train for my next win!

lmao!

This is what Varner gets. He was winning that fight. If he would’ve just finished it and won by decision like he was *most likely already going to do he wouldn’t have to go through this.

Oh man this is going to be good. This fight should be on TNT. We Love Drama!

I hope Cowboy beats him back into grade school now. What kind of nonsensical trash-talk is this?

Dammit nick

Why do you always have to make us all look bad?!?!

Hahaha. I don’t know how you get all your content before the others, but you always seem to get it fast and from all kinds of sources. Haha. :)
(for those who have broken detectors, this is actually a compliment to nick)

Varner

He’s a really solid fighter, but he is making himself very hard to like. Watching Faber fight round after round with a broken hand should make Varner feel even worse.

by MMAMoneyLine on Jun 9, 2009 9:28 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I agree with everything but the last sentence.

Why exactly should Varner, who fought through some injuries, feel bad because Faber did too?

I like Varner, but he has defnitely become harder to like post-cowboy…which is sad bacause Cerrone has all the personality of a cardboard box.

I’m wondering why, exactly, Cerrone is getting a rematch so quick. Is the LW ranks in the WEC that thin?

Uhh, maybe because of the controversial end of the first fight?

Sure, the end was controversial.

But the rest of the fight was fairly under control for Varner.

Even so, the champ usually takes on another challenger before the rematch simply because back to back fights with the same challenger stalls a division.

Cerrone turned the tide late. I’m surprised he lasted that long, he’s like T-1000.

Have you read up on his injury history? I think he is just too stubborn to quit or die.

No

by poundnground on Jun 9, 2009 4:33 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Because...

Because Faber fought 3 rounds with a broken hand, possibly 2 broken hands. Varner quit to get out of a fight he was going to lose, in my opinion.

by MMAMoneyLine on Jun 9, 2009 1:19 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well...

the illegal blow that caused the fight to go to the card resulted in Varner winning by decision, if I remember correctly.

by Razreshat on Jun 9, 2009 2:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Varner fought three rounds with a broken hand and actually threw punches with it. He won the fight too. :p

by ilostmydog on Jun 9, 2009 10:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Varner broke his hand in rd 1 or 2 as well.

by bigweeze on Jun 10, 2009 12:28 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Fixed that for you.
Because Faber fought 3 rounds with a broken hand, possibly 2 broken hands. Varner fought for as much time as Faber did, with a broken hand and foot, and then took an illegal knee (which almost destroyed his retina), and couldn’t continue, in a fight he was handily winning.

Also, LOL!

What was he thinking?

Honestly that thing is the only reason I would like Varner…if he hadn’t been doing it in front of his opponent getting checked by the doctor.

He must have been watching a funniest touchdown dance compilation on TV and thought it would be awesome if he combined all of them.

I dont like varner and the why the last fight played out,he was lokking for a way out and he took it

by RealIrish on Jun 9, 2009 4:39 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

It’s weird, Varner seemed so contrite and respectful right after the fight and now it’s degenerated so quickly. Can’t wait for the fight, genuine bad blood is always fun. I do agree that Cerrone has little to no charisma whereas Varner has it to spare.

I like Cerrone’s game though, dude is tough and hits hard.

by TheeJudge on Jun 9, 2009 8:27 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Cerrone does have an intersting fighting style.

But he needs to learn to avoid punches. He walks right in too much and it will come back to haunt him sooner or later.
