Faber is a fucking beast continuing with an injury even half that bad.

That shit is
BROKE.
So does Faber go to 135 at this point? That would seem to me the next move (if, of course, he can comfortably/healthily make the cut down), but his boy Benavidez is on the brink of a title shot, so he may not want to drop. It’s going to be interesting to see how Faber handles getting Rich Franklin’d.

If he’s going into surgery for this then he’s going to have plenty of time to figure out what he wants to do.

That second fight was much more competitive than any of Franklin/Silva, and that was with a broken hand for 4 of 5 rounds.

I don’t think the rich franklin’d remark had anything to do with the duration of the fights, more so that Faber can’t beat the current champ and he might need 2 change weight classes because of it.

How do we know that Faber can’t beat Brown based on that fight? That fight had nothing at all in common with the two ass whoopings Anderson SIlva put on Rich Franklin.

“getting Rich Franklin’d” is easily my new favorite line!

Come to think of it, bet he stays at 145- there is still lots of intrigue for a 3rd fight, yea?

It looks like the top one is after they tried to set the bones somewhat, ouch.

the 5th metatarsal doesn’t look so good either; i think its broke too if not badly fractured, the bad thing is that two breaks next to each other is hard to heal…

metatarsals are in your feet. metacarpals are in your hand. not trying to be a dick, just thought i’d let you know.

great fight
hope faber isnt out tooooo long…the injury obviously had a dramatic impact on the outcome of the fight…until brownie’s thick skull got in the way, urijah seemed to be in control…there’s no move to 135, another fight has to happen

Agreed. Sucks it had to come down to an injury like that.

I've never broken a bone before
To those of you who have, how long will this take to heal?
by Deo Wade on Jun 8, 2009 8:04 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
a few months
but it never really feels the same in most cases.
by banter on Jun 8, 2009 8:28 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yep...
and if he doesn’t take a long enough time to let them heal (and even in many cases when you do) they’ll re-break fairly easily going forward

My right hand hurt for so long after I broke it I don’t even remember how it’s supposed to feel.

But the other way around.

Hopefully he won't get "Joe Rigg'd"
Looks like he will need pins in the bones, time to heal and some good physical therapy. He can bounce back from this. Bones are constructed kinda like a sponge, lots of small spaces in the structure. When they heal correctly all the little small spaces near the break fill in solid and they actually can (correctly and can are the key words) become stronger than they were before.
Speaking from personal experience, I broke 5th metatarsal badly in October, needed surgery and pins inserted. I have fully healed, but it still feels “Strange”. In my case Bourbon + Bad News = Physical Therapy. I won’t be punching anything anytime soon. Lesson learned the hard way… again.

No dude
You broke your 5th metacarpal. Otherwise, you broke your foot. And I seem to recall you having pins in your hand :)

I couldn’t remember which was which and figured Beren knew what he was talking about.

A lesser man would have been done by the 3rd round
What a warrior.
by Tizoc on Jun 8, 2009 8:08 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
He broke his hand in the first
So lesser men wouldve called it quits at that point.

Rich Franklin was out for seven months when he broke his hand against David Loiseau.

I don’t know why some of you are suggesting he drop down in weight – he went 5 rounds against Mike Brown with a broken hand and Mike couldn’t finish him – I’d say he is still relevant at 145.

He's def. still relevant at 145
A drop to 135 means a possible ass whopping from Miguel Torres a.k.a. Zorak
