Pancrase Changing Results: Kitaoka Dominates, Sunabe Becomes First Flyweight King
The main event of Sunday's loaded "Pancrase Changing" card saw Sengoku lightweight champ Satoru Kitaoka dominate the outmatched Yukio Sakaguchi in the way most thought he would, or perhaps even moreso. The P's Lab product put Sakaguchi on the ground within seconds, and nearly snared him with a front choke before resorting to one of his Nippon Top Team-trademarked leglocks.
In the co-main, Mitsuhisa Sunabe was crowned the inaugural Flyweight King of Pancrase after upsetting Takuya Eizumi with a lights-out left hook late in the opening frame.
During the show, Pancrase legend Yuki Kondo announced that he will return to the ring in August.

That pic
of Sunabe is perfect. Sunabe’s joy, the cornerman’s shock, and the ref’s concern all captured perfectly. Its like the pure essence of MMA captured in a single instant.

Kitaoka said he wanted to fight Inoue again, but nothing ever came of it. So this ended up being just a little tune-up for August.
Speaking of Kitaoka, I saw this on Herbertson’s blog and it cracked me up:
The other highlight for me was Satoru Kitaoka laughing hysterically at Kazunori Yokota challenging the winner of Kitaoka vs. Hirota.

Can't believe I forgot to mention...
In one of the two pre-tournament bouts, Kazuyoshi Kiyama TKO’d Kensaku Nakamura with a body shot so hard it made Nak puke.
This post is a formal request for that video.
"I see him beating Anderson Silva. I see him picking him apart. Him at a 131 years old...(trails off)." - Tito on Belfort at Affliction:DOR
"I’ve mastered submissions in short pants," exclaimed Kitaoka to a delighted audience, drawing attention to his green shorts — a departure from his typical long spats.
