UFC 103 Comes to Dallas, Texas in September - Josh Koscheck vs. Frank Trigg Confirmed
Promoted from the FanPosts by Kid Nate.
Recent rumors surrounding UFC 103 in September have placed the event first in Memphis, Tennessee, and then in the UK, but MMA Junkie is now reporting that the event will take place in Dallas, Texas on September 19th:
While initial reports suggested the bout would take place on Sept. 26, and possibly in the U.K., the event will now be held on Sept. 19, just three days after UFC Fight Night 19 takes place in Oklahoma City.
While UFC 103 is expected to take place at the American Airlines Center, an official venue for the event has not been named.
A report from MMA Frenzy mentions that MMAJunkie's confirmation came from a source within the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The UFC's last trip to Texas was also its first when UFC 69: Shootout was held at the Toyota Center in Houston, with a main event that saw Matt Serra upset Georges St. Pierre for the welterweight title.
The article also goes on to reveal that a previously rumored welterweight fight between Josh Koscheck and the returning Frank Trigg is now close to finalization with both participants having recently received their fight contracts:
Rumors of the bout have been widespread in recent days, and sources close to the event have indicated to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that bout agreements have been distributed and are expected to be finalized shortly.
The UFC crew will have a quick turn-around after UFC Fight Night 19 which takes place just three days prior on 9/16, but the Octagon won't have far to travel when it makes the 200-mile trip south from Oklahoma City to Dallas.
Current event info for UFC 103 is as follows:
UFC 103: September 19th, 2009
Dallas, Texas - Venue: TBA (American Airlines Center likely)
Rumored Card:
Frank Trigg vs. Josh Koscheck
Patrick Cote vs. Yushin Okami
Cole Miller vs. Efrain Escudero
Hermes Franca vs. TBA
Aaron Simpson vs. TBA
Steve Steinbeiss vs. TBA

I am a Dallas resident and pumped- as far as main events goes, could it be either Machida/Shogun or Rampage/Rashad?
by SMC on Jun 3, 2009 9:20 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Won’t be Page/Rashad – that will be after TUF 10 in December. Machida/Shogun seems the most likely.

I think Machida/Shogun is tentatively scheduled for UFC 104 October 24th in LA. Here’s what I wanna know- according to MMA Junkie UFC 105 is only 3 weeks later on Nov. 14 and 106 is ONE WEEK LATER which is the 21st. 105 looks like it’s going to be in England possibly with a main event of Bisping vs. Silva (although I don’t believe Bisping is going to win) . So 106 could feature either Brock or GSP but that wouldn’t leave a whole lot for the year end event which is usually packed. Rampage/Rashad is scheduled for Dec. but that’s not even a title fight, I assume either Brock or GSP will fight there but they are leaving their options pretty thin if anyone gets hurt. Looks like there might be one or two lackluster cards in the second half of this year.

Machida/Shogun would be great, but I thought they wanted that fight for 104; at least that’s what mmamania says.

i sure hope not.

Doubtful
I’m sure there will be a title on the line.

Yeah...
Not necessarily a title fight…but something better than a guy coming off a loss vs. a guy who hasn’t fought in the promotion for quite some time will be on top.

No chance
I doubt they could even push a free Fight Night on Spike with Trigg vs. Koscheck as the main event. I’m sure we’ll be hearing about some big fights for this card in the coming weeks.

I live in the HEB area, a stone’s skip from Dallas.
Think we might see Okami? Perhaps against Cote? Or maybe Cote takes on the winner of Wandy/Ace?
Unfortunately, unless they stack this FN 16 style with great match-ups, I think this will be a relatively weak card.
by Sergio Hernandez on Jun 3, 2009 10:28 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Well Ace is going up to light heavyweight to try his hand at the Dragon (chuckle). If Wandy wins he should at least get a number 1 contender match, and Okami needs his shot. Talking of which, I just watched Okami lose to Shields, and well, that decision was a joke. (granted feed was a little grainy)

Mmabay (take it with a grain of salt, of course) says that Okami and Cote are fighting at 103.

OK, that takes care of the last fight on the undercard, now to the televised portion….

That’s been challenged by Cote himself. I think it unlikely at this point. Cote says he won’t be ready to return until 104.

Could the big fight of this PPV be a heavyweight title eliminator- possibly Carwin vs. the winner of Cain/Kongo?
by SMC on Jun 3, 2009 11:52 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
If Kongo beats Cain he better get the next shot.

I think Machida v.s. Shogun could still end up on this card.

Machida/Shogun is all but confirmed for UFC 104 in Los Angeles.

![Brock Larson reflects on his upset loss to Mike Pierce in an interview with MMA Junkie:
"I don't think the judges made the wrong call. They had to award him the win because the only thing that went on in the whole fight was takedowns, and he got them. I clearly lost the fight. Hats off to Pierce, but he has some issues to work on himself."
In the locker room after the fight, UFC matchmaker Joe Silva told Larson's manager, Monte Cox, "Don't worry about Brock. He's a fighter. We don't know what we're going to do with this other [expletive]. I don't know if I can watch another 15 minutes of that [expletive].".
"That was good to hear coming off a loss," Larson said. "In a weird way, that loss helps me, and it would have helped Pierce if he tried to be aggressive. Win, lose or draw, at least he's competing. People won't want to watch that stuff.
"I've always taken pride in going after and trying to finish my fights, and I get the upper hand always going after it and being aggressive. Pierce didn't have that attitude. He just wanted to eke out the win and get the [win].
"The W is important, but at the same time it's the entertainment business. People pay to watch, and they don't want to watch two guys hug belly buttons. Clay Guida, he makes more money on friggin' 'Fight of the Night' bonuses than he does on his fight wins."
"People look at film and say, 'This guy beat Brock? That's all he had to do,'" Larson said. "I have to get the Band-Aids out, cover that owie and not have to worry about that being a problem."](http://cdn1.sbnation.com/fan_shot_images/84043/md97y25v01_small.jpg)
