Lift the Ban Watch: MMA Bill in New York State Passes Through First Round of Committee Votes
From folks in New York, we've got direct word: Bill A.2009-B (the bill to legalize and regulate MMA in the state of New York) passed 14-6 in Tourism Committee and is now headed for the Codes Committee. Excellent news, of course, but it's worth keeping in mind there are still several hurdles the bill must negotiate before legalized MMA becomes a reality:
Out of 21 committee members, 11 votes are needed to pass the bill out of committee with a favorable review. If it passes, it then heads to the Codes Committee (for bills with legal implications) followed by the Ways and Means Committee (for bills with fiscal implications). Both committees will vote on the bill before passing it to the Assembly floor for a general vote.
A Senate companion bill to the MMA legislation is currently in its Cultural Affairs Committee.
One step closer. Fingers crossed. Bob Reilly is probably fuming right now.

I wonder if Bob is shopping around for an illegal hand gun right about now?
Or considering some random acts of violence to vent his anger…

That’s a link to the bill in the assembly if anyone wants to follow more closely.
And it looks like big bad bob isn’t on the Codes committee, so hopefully we never here of him again.
Fuck a Bob Reilly!

Great news guys…
It has always been said… you have not made it until you have sold out MSG… and now MMA is that much closer to doing that.
