Seems right, he will need to be elusive, it would be stupid to go and try to overpower the beast. If he can frustrate Lesnar with this so great standup he claims to have developed, he could take advantage of takedown attempt to go for a sub. And since he got ‘more subs than the navy’, why not. The first part will be the hardest to pull off, one punch and he might change his mind. I’m more pumped up for this fight actually. I’m a big GSP fan, but I don’t think the odds are that bad for him. For Mir lol, another story.

Mir moves like a MW? lol
Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.

maybe he meant to say he...
… “moves like he’s got a middleweight on his back”?

if his head is this big BEFORE the fight, imagine how it’ll be if he WINS!
I foresee the word “fedor” becoming a steady feature in his vocabulary.

If Mir really believes all of this stuff, he is screwed.
Mir thinks he is stronger than Lesnar….yeah, ok.
Lesnar would lose to Evans?
Frank should focus on his own skills and spend less time rambling on and one about how inferior Lesnar is.
As it is, I am fairly sure Mir is simply trying to piss Lesnar off. That said, I see Mir getting pounded badly. Lesnar was wrecking him before and that was with 16 months less training.
Mir’s sub was not even a slick one, it was more Lesnar making a very foolish, very rookie mistake.

Mir sounds like BJ.
I dislike Matt Hughes and Twidder.

He looks like a good 255, though.
Like he’s carrying it across his back and shoulders, rather than gut and waist.

I was noticing that too. His shoulders look a lot bigger and more defined than in the past.

That comment he made about moving like a MW is just silly- there may be a couple (very few) HWs that do in fact move like 185ers, but Mir is certainly not one of them.

Wow, none of you are giving Mir the time of day? Take away his cockiness and let’s look at his BJJ skills and recent improvement in his hands. This isn’t a David and Goliath fight. Mir has what it takes to beat Lesnar. Does Lesnar outweigh him and have better wrestling? Yes. We’ll see come fight night.

No, it’s that he said he’s stronger than Lesnar and that he moves like a MW.
Spare me.

I give Mir credit, but I also remember him getting pounded the first time around.
Mir may have improved, but so has Lesnar.
A choke: Not a rnc because I don’t think Mir can get his arms around Lesnar’s neck. Triangle? Maybe.
Outstriking: Not smart because Brock has shown that he needs one punch to put you down.
As I said, if Frank comes into this fight actually believing what he is saying, he is going to get creamed. If this is all bluster and Frank is working his ass off and knows this is a tough fight…we could see a war.
It just seems like the Lesnar and Nog wins have Mir thinking he is in a class by himself.

Lynchman, about the choke….
Im sorry man, but I think you have it backwards. It’s way easier to choke someone with your bicep/forearm while hanging off his back than it is with one of your thighs and your opponents shoulder, especially when the counter to the latter is standing up fast.
Brock’s neck is not so thick that Mir’s bicep and forearm will come up short of the carotids (his neck size seems to be highly exaggerated), but the mass between his neck and the outside of his opposite shoulderblade is so wide, and his explosiveness will allow him to posture up so fast, that a triangle seems highly unlikely.
I have it as Mir by RNC from sprawl to back mount or armbar from guard after some clean early outside striking. That or Brock pounds him into paste. :)

Also, thinking about triangle defenses….
What if Brock pulled a Rampage/Arona? Page’s was sick, but Brock’s has the potential to be career, or worse, life threatening. Literally.

He has the strength to posture up with Mir and bring his full weight down. Over 500 lbs plus the strength of Brock plus gravity bringing both men downward. That would be a TON of force. Even landing on his back with as much surface area hitting the ground as possible you could see internal damage. It would be like falling out of a three story building.

Maybe its the training… but his hands look low in the video

Right hand over the top? Yes sir, thank you sir. Haha
I’m not counting Frank out, but I hope when the cameras are out of his face and he’s sitting at home, or in the gym, just him and his trainers, they take Lesnar VERY seriously, because if even one OUNCE of this ego shows up in the cage, Brock will take advantage of it. I expect Brock to really take his time, and be careful gaining position, and grind him down, then if Mir slows down, look for a KO late in the 2nd or 3rd.
If it goes to the Championship rounds, we may see Brock get tapped. Of course, this is all speculation and Mir could come out and headkick Brock and start hollering “Bring on Crocop!”…who knows.

Both of them have the possibility of showing ego in the cage which could turn out bad for them.

i still say that brock wins, but after watchin that 2nd video you can tell Mir’s more dedicated (his physical shape) then some of his past fights

Mir is completely delusional. This fight is a tossup, he could win, but the way he’s talking you almost forget that THIS IS FRANK MIR. Go ask his current sparring partner who the better fighter is, Randy or Mir. Go ask anybody who’s trained with the two. I’m not an MMA math guy, the point is just that the idea that he is at some elite level Brock has never seen is ridiculous.
Mir moving like a middleweight was comedy gold.
Also, training with Forrest is not a good idea. It gets you into the mentality that you can afford to take shots. Forrest will throw lots in a round but none have KO power. With Lesnar, the threat is getting hit by 1. I guess we’ll see. I think Mir might take it, but the fact that he’s talking so much suggests to me that he’s scared.

Just sounded like Mir’s usual hype to me… And I don’t think the idea of training with Forrest is to prepare for Lesnar’s game, as I think he said its more of a cardio thing.

100% playing mind games with Lesner. Mir wants him pissed off and not thinking about his training so he bullrushes in and makes a mistake. I give it about a week before Mir insinuates that Lesner’s homophobia is the result of latent tendencies.

Ok guys, remember Hardy? Mind game is a huge part of the game. Well hardy did it better cause he went personal, looked like a dick in the process but had some results that not only helped him catching the interest but also gave him the mental edge. Frank is throwing tons of BS to hype himself (cause he knows he is the underdog despite having a win on the guy) and at the end of the day he didn’t reveal anything. But he sure looks like a dick in the process.

Mir is masking that fear!
You know, I used to like Frank Mir. I respected his BJJ and his ring intelligence. Honestly though, his antics as of late have really pissed me off. It’s amazing to see what 2 fights have done to this guy. He beat a rookie in Brock Lesnar his first fight, goes on to beat a sick/battered/injured Noguera (who I guarantee will beat him on a healthy night), and now he thinks he’s on top of the world? This dude has got to stop all the crap talking and really start worrying about his opponent. I remember that one interview where he totally overlooked Lesnar and started talking about Check Kongo being a good fight for him.
I see it this way, Mir was 5 seconds away from losing the first fight. Lesnar gave him that first fight by leaving his leg out there. It was a rookie mistake. A mistake that will not be repeated this time around. While Frank was “injured” Brock was training. He has been training non-stop since he beat Couture. Back then, he was a purple belt in BJJ, after all this time, I wonder what he is now? He has one punch KO power, the explosive speed of an NFL lineman, and the strength of a beast.
Mir said he has advantages in the standup and the ground game? LOL!!! he is in for a rude awakening. I see Brock grinding him down. Pinning him against the cage with Greco Roman. Using dirty boxing. Then, smothering him on the ground. Lesnar is going to stay very close to Mir on the ground to prevent a submission.
Mir has gotten KO’d before, and I see him getting KO’d again in this fight. Lesnar by referree stoppage in late 2nd round.

"Back then, he was a purple belt in BJJ"
say what?

If Brock can get his clinch and pound game near Randy’s level he would be unstoppable. He would be able to wear out and grind any striker in the clinch and then take em down for the finish. He would be able to wear out and grind any grappler in the clinch then knock them out standing.
So far he’s demonstrated devastating knees in the clinch – he now needs to learn how to use the rest of his body like dirty boxing, shoulders etc… to drain his opponents.

Mir looks Great...
atleast in terms of physical shape… Also Mir exaggerates but i lot of truth is masked in the hype train… I say Mir wins, especially if it goes past the first round, but not due to a cardio advantage… I think Brock will make a mistake eventually if he doesn’t finish Frank. Mir’s BJJ is good, from the bottom as well as on top, and Mir also has very fluid transitions into holds…. People keep talking about how much better Brock will probably be, but honestly I think Mir will be the more improved fighter in this bout, and regardless of the victor I’m almost sure it’s not going to decision.
btw outside of Lesnar, Mir may be the best combination of size, strength, and agility among the larger heavyweights not to mention a decent skillset, and what seems to be like a solid camp… Don’t overlook all of this just because Franks talking shit… he’s sellin the fight well, because it seems like many of you can’t wait to see him take an ass whoopin. Lesnar isn’t even sellin this fight outside of the fact that he wants an air of legitimacy to surround his title, and avenge a loss in a fight that many people feel he should’ve won….
I’m excited for this fight, and can’t wait to see what happens, period…
