Now the UFC just needs a charismatic Chinese fighter.

its ironic
that Cung Le is of vietnamese descent since he’s a san shou fighter — the top Chinese style.

It’s at least mildly ironic that the most famous MMA fighter who utilizes a Chinese style isn’t Chinese.

thanks for explaining
that’s exactly what I meant.

It really is. Imagine if this somehow leads to the UFC being shown on CCTV5 in the future. There’s some global domination for ya.

Wow. This is really cool. I wonder how long until we start to see Chinese fighters?

Thank you! I grew up without a TV, and haven’t owned one since, so I had no idea what SCTV was until I searched for it just now. Hilarious and right up my humor alley!

Maybe I’m just narrow-minded being from ethno-centric America, but will Chinese people really be that interested in seeing a bunch of round-eyes beating each other up?

So then I guess the Japanese never gave a damn about MMA.

They do have a big MMA promotion in Art of War.. A lot of them are fight fans and a lot of them like the UFC.. Now that they have a TV deal that reaches millions, their interest in the UFC will increase exponentially.
And I’m sure some of the people there still have the same point of view as you mentioned, but a lot of them, especially in the major cities already embrace the western culture…
Didn’t you watch the olympics? They love them some LBJ and Kobe.

I hope I’m wrong, but I think having fighters cultural like them would go a long way.

Of course having Chinese fighters would help a lot.
But to generalize them all as not interested in big eyed people, is just wrong.

Hey UFC guys
You already have a TV deal here. You air PPVs live, tuf episodes and countdown shows are shown here earlier than the US even… You have Vera, Nover, Munoz and Buchholz. Vera’s public workout got 4000 fans, chuck’s got thousands more… You could even sign guys like Folayang if you wanted more local fighters, although regardless of the presence of Filipino fighters, you guys will still sell.
Germany only had crocop, Dublin had a fake Irishman. Their people resisted and protested when you came while Lorenzo, Chuck and Vera were treated like the beatles.. Tickets here would be sold out really fast I guarantee it..
So why aren’t you guys here yet?

Crocop is Croatian. Croatia is a far cry from Germany....
That said, I would love to see the UFC go to more countries! Why not to the home of weo 3 times.
Hopefully to Australia sooner rather than later too.

yeah, that was actually my point. Germany only had Crocop who wasnt really german, and marcus davis, who wasnt really irish..
they should go here. :)
are there UFC fighters from australia? sinosic and who else?

PS
Cung Le and Folatang would be good additions to a China card. Add them with a couple of their locals, and they will fit right in, in the way guys like Kelly etc fit in the Dublin card..
San Shou and Wushu is really big there so people will be able to relate. :)

I’m in China right now, and there’s some interest in K1 and Sanda, but people don’t really know about MMA yet. It’s interesting that all the top chinese MMA fighters (who come mostly from sanda) are all from Inner Mongolia… combat sports are pretty popular there, especially wrestling.

Yeah the team that is beating up the other guys In MMA here in the phil.
Also comes from Wushu backgrounds.. Haha.
