UFC 100 Preview: Frank Mir
"I think Brock knows enough about me to be worried, if I say anymore, I might not be able to get him in the cage. So we might as well try to boost up his confidence so he shows up on the 11th and I can get paid."-- Frank Mir at the 1:44 min mark.

see, this is what I don't like about Mir
Yes, he surprisingly gave Lesnar a little bit of prop action, if you want to call it that..but….
He goes on a spiel about jabs, fading, slipping punches, blah blah blah….like he’s saying “I know all this stuff and you don’t”. Like he’s trying to impress us or Brock with his knowledge. I don’t know, it just rubs me the wrong way everytime I hear him speak

I don't know what was worse
Frank’s fake confidence, The Camera mans terrible zooming, or that shitty transition between scenes. The interviewer was cute though.
Didn't anybody
Notice she had nice boobs?? I’m sorry I can’t help myself.
Doesn't anybody think before they speak/post anymore?
You should probably take your own (sig) advice.

I don’t know. I thought it went well with his user name.

That is a huge bump on his forehead…at least it looks like he is training hard for this one. Brock via monkey clubbing (aka huge hammerfists) round one.

Looks like Frank has been hard sparring.
My gut tells me that Lesnar is going to beat Mir. I did, however, just watch the Lesnar-Couture fight and Lesnar has a lot of holes in his game. Mir has a really slim chance of rocking Lesnar on the feet and then getting a submission.
I can’t believe you guys let yourselves get caught up in the pre-fight hype. When any fighter does an interview before a fight I just here “Blah Blah Blah he sucks I am great Blah Blah Blah”
"Stop smiling you are about to be punched in the face !"
Oh Yeah
Does anyone really think that BJJ is huge in Poland?
"Stop smiling you are about to be punched in the face !"
It might be
It’s hard to tell how popular a sport is in other countries with just your intuition. I was told by a pretty intelligent guy that Brazilian Jujitsu isn’t that popular in Brazil. He said that Judo was the martial art of choice for most Brazilians.
I’m still trying to find a link or quote to illustrate Frank’s dickheadedness / douchebaggery.
I just can’t understand why alot of people put this label on the guy. I’m not saying he’s not what people are saying he is, but I’ve yet to see it. I just don’t get it…What was so bad about what he says in this interview?
He looked and sounded like someone who is training hard for this fight, and like someone with very little respect for Brock’s technical MMA abilities. Considering how long he’s been in the game, I’d say those were reasonable responses.
Alot of people are saying that Brock learned so much from that fight, and that he’s not going to make the same mistake again, but forget to realize that Frank learned alot from that fight too, and just because Brock won’t make that same mistake, it doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty more mistakes he can make.
I’m going with Frank by RNC or armbar from guard after some sharp striking from the outside. Brock’s a fucking beast though, so if Frank’s not careful, it’s gonna be a short night.

I feel Mir will be by submission as well but I don’t see him wrapping his arm around that neck or holding on to those tree stump arms, it’s gotta be another submission on the lower half of the body (and not in a Joe Son sort of way)

Go watch the full interview, it's even worse
and if you can’t tell by that…then I don’t know what to tell you. I thought he was an alright guy until I watched TUF with him and Nog….then his colorful side really started to show.
Well I gotta say, the “cockiest” thing I heard him say in the full video was that if Brock keeps it standing he’s gonna knock him out, and if he takes it to the ground he’s gonna submit him.
What were some of the things he said that you consider smug or cocky? It seemed to me like a good interview. He spoke like he knew what he was talking about and like he believes in himself.
I think what you’re refering to back in TUF was when he refused to talk to his guys about some pranks right? When Nog was being all noble and trying to keep everything mature and professional and Frank just kinda shined him on…I started to feel the same way about Frank, but I tried to see it from his perspective, and I think his actions were calculated and meant to serve their own purpose.
Whenever I’ve seen him speak outside of the hyping-his-fights setting, he seems like a smart, genuinely respectful guy, and I’ll be rooting for him at 100.
It sucks if I’m wrong though. :I

Come on Frank!
Show us the “Curl up in a ball and pray he stops hitting me” defense!
He talked a big game before the last fight too and got his ass handed to him. So I guess going a full minute without getting folded like a towel is improvement.
Don’t forget…
Frank Mir won that fight. And if there wasn’t a ref around, Brock Lesnar would be a one legged man.
The winner of a fight is just that…the winner. And he didn’t win by decision…He made Brock give up. And if i’m not mistaken, he tapped FAST. Brock popped him good, but Frank could have ended Brock’s career that night.

If the ref wasn’t around, Mir would have been pounded into a pile of goo in the first minute of the fight.
Mir needed a MISTAKE to beat a guy in his UFC debut. I think that says it all right there. His experience didn’t do him 1 bit of good as he got dropped, taken down and transitioned at will.
Mir has ridden 1 good highlight win over Sylvia long enough, he’s going to lose to lesnar, then lose to Nog in their rematch and be exposed as horribly over-rated.

Touche’.
I still think Frank’s gonna win though. ;)
I think everyone wins by capitalizing on their opponents’ mistakes, so that part of your response I don’t agree with. Do you really think Mir is that over-rated though? Come on man, even though Nog wasn’t at his best in their fight, Frank still put on a clinic. You gotta give the guy props for stepping up to one of his idols and giving it all he had. Not to mention the respect he showed Nog in the post fight interview, and the speech he gave to everyone that I’m sure inspired some people (myself included) to do bigger and better things.
Frank’s not even one of my favorite fighters, but he deserves some respect for what he’s done, that’s all i’m saying. And I’ve yet to see him act like a straight up douche.

Not really. In fact, his fight with Nog just underscores how over-rated he is. Nog could have easily postponed that fight for medical reasons, but he didn’t. But then Mir puts off his own title defense. I think when Nog gets his rematch, Mir is going to find out exactly why he was the big underdog in that fight.
I’ve yet to see a Frank Mir interview where he was acting like a cocky douche. The guy has 1 great win and its been milked long enough.
Here's Frank Mir talking about Lesnar - before he was selling the rematch
“He was more like getting hit by a car that’s moving very slowly and you can’t get out of the way. It bumps and knocks you over and is just overwhelmingly powerful.”
“I didn’t know where he was half the time. It really felt like I was underwater and somebody was beating the s—- out of me. I was just drowning under him.”

Perfect example of what I mean, you’d forget the fact that he tapped Brock in less than 2 minutes if it wasn’t for the 3 Mir fans that are here because of these oversensetive fanboys.
Raker, I like Frank Mir. Believe it or not he is my favorite UFC personality. He’s a tremendous competitor and I certainly don’t think he’s overrated. He looked superb against Nogueira, and he would have any easy time beating him again.
I still don’t think he will beat Lesnar. And that has nothing to do with his abilities as a fighter — it just has everything to do with the size and brute strength of Brock. Mir was handled like child in that fight, and it was just Brock’s inexperience that cost him the win.
I don’t think the people in there are Lesnar fanboys, they’re just realists.
