Donald Cerrone vs. Ben Henderson set for WEC 43
With champion Jamie Varner sidelined for an undetermined amount of time, the WEC has opted to put No. 1 contender, Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone and Ben Henderson together for an interim lightweight title fight on Sept. 2 in Youngstown, Ohio.
The fight between Cerrone and Henderson will serve as the main event for WEC 43 but at this time no other bouts have been determined for the September card.
The bout also marks the first time that the WEC has utilized an interim championship.

I kinda feel bad for Varner. He is sort of reminding me of the guy with the staff infection from the most recent TUF season. My gut tells me he is not interested in fighting Cerrone again. But WTF do I know? Maybe Varner is a slow healer. Henderson is going to give Cerrone some real trouble though. I t should be a great fight!

trust me, Varner and Cerrone want fight each other..
those two hate each other.. It was just unfortunate that Varner found out his hand was still broken even if, according to him, there was no pain already.

I have to admit… I got a little less interested when I found out they are good friends:
Benson is definitely a worth opponent. He is a friend of mine which is the one thing that sucks. I have grown up fighting alongside the guy. I have no problems whatsoever taking the fight; I just have to go in there with someone I like. There is nothing bad you can say about that guy, he is just a real good dude.

WEC on a Wednesday?
Intersting. I’m kinda of a newbie(last year or so) to WEC, but have they ever had a card on a Wednesday?

Why is this ok? The person that wins is not the champ. The champ is injured. It does nothing but cheapen the belt. I understand that people love championship fights and that it is easier to sell an event if there is a five round fight involved but to make up a champion because the current champ is hurt is just a cheap way to sell tickets.
I understand the WEC has fewer divisions than the average mma promotion. This is there fault for taking certain divisions and absorbing them into the UFC and allowing the WEC to focus on the lighter weights. They had to know that in doing so they leave themselves open for long periods of title inactivity due to injuries.
I feel that the new trend set by the UFC and now seen in the sister company, WEC is a large negative for mmma as a whole. It makes the sport look more like pro wrestling where they could make up anything they wanted.
As a martial artist and a fan, I don’t want the sport to become diluted with cheap promotions such as this. I also do not want to see the work of a champ become watered down. He has not lost the title, yet they will be calling another man champ come September.
Do not give me a chevette and try and tell me it is a Vette.

So it is ok to just make up a title? Most people hated the fact that they made the interim title during the Randy Saga yet here we are and now suddenly this is the worst posts ever on this site?
Glad to see I could beat out such quality posts as “WAR Florian” and “BJ sucks”
and a couple of my favorites “If that had been a right knee, Hughes might have died there”
and “I am surprised the punch didn’t kill him”
Quality stuff guys. I see the question was asked if MMA Gospel was a site. The answer is, no, it is not a site but an internet radio show that will be starting very soon. I have been doing 10-15 minute clips on another radio show and decided it was time to move on and make my very own show.
As for those that think this is a horibble post, please debate me on the topic raather than having nothing to say other than “I disagree”

![Jamie Varner says "Ben Henderson fought like a girl, he got lucky":
"I thought I was putting all the pressure on the fight. Ben was running away a lot. I felt Ben fought scared, he fought not to lose, and I don't think he was really fighting to win," said Varner. "I just gave him an opportunity. I served him my neck up on a silver platter."
"That year off made me hungry. Even though I lost and I'm really disappointed, and I was really disappointed even a few days after the fight. I was like I never want to fight again, this sucks, Ben fought like a girl, he got lucky, and I was so angry and making excuses, but honestly looking back on it, I've had time to take a breath and relax and really reflect on the fight, and I had a lot of fun," Varner said.
