Is it just me, or is Dana putting himself on the cover of the first issue a little…retarded?

Yea, that was pretty bad....
It’s fine to have Dana on the 1st cover, but to have him on there throwing a punch is kinda, well stupid.
It’d be like having Brock Lesnar or GSP with a suit on at a board room table.
I think Dana on the cover epitomizes his level of megalomania/egomania. He should be ripped for it, but he won’t.

Yeah, that’s a bit much even for me.

In fairness
If you were Dana White you’d probably have a boner for yourself as well.
Due to Cheick Kongo's atrocious takedown defense....
Walla walla walla, I’m an idiot
I like how it says EXCLUSIVE! and then underneath it says Dana White.
Also it looks like his facial hair is photoshopped.

That pic was their 2nd choice
But they couldn’t get permission from Tom Attencio to use this one:

I like having Dana on the front throwin punches. It’s like, “hey Look at me, I am the president of the UFC, want a piece of me?”.
I tried subscribing on UFC.com, but couldn’t find anything there. Newsstands charge way too much money.
How taste my pee pee pee? LIKE WIN!!! Thank you Machida!
Until they come out with a laptop you can comfortably use while taking a dump there will always be a need for print media.

sexy.
"I love it when a guy is bleeding on top of me." -- Diego Sanchez, post fight interview about his fight with Clay Guida
You may like to contaminate your laptop with flying particles of crap...
But I prefer books and magazines.
AND
If there’s no TP, I have a backup plan, good luck getting that laptop in there.

It’s only fitting that the UFC’s biggest star is on the cover, instead of, you know, a fucking fighter.
If you think about it, who could they put on there to represent the UFC? Choosing any one fighter shows bias and would probably alienate some of their roster.
A man should never waste an opportunity to keep his mouth shut.
How about showing many fighters then?

If Dana is going to put himself on the cover pretending to be a fighter, he better not call Atencio a loser for calling him out.
“He talks like a fighter, so why doesn’t he fight? I’m stepping up to the plate. And win, lose or draw. I attempted it. I don’t ever think [White] would fight.” – Tom Atencio.
Makes sense to me and I’m a Dana White fan.

Better cover candidates:
Anderson Silva
GSP
Rampage Jackson (Extreme closeup)
Stephen Bonnar & Forrest Griffin in suits, one with a green tie & the other with a blue tie.
Frank Mur & Brock Lesnar
Any or all of the HOFers
Basically, I would’ve put the first cover fighter(s) in suits to present the sport as classy and not start with the promoter in a t-shirt.
Choosing any of those would alienate the rest.
A man should never waste an opportunity to keep his mouth shut.
You don’t think the super high salaries of some fighters doesn’t alienate guys more than a cover photo?

Alienate them enough to want to fight?
heheheh, I kid, but really, what’re you talking about? No fighter will ever be on the cover of this mag because it would make other fighters jealous? Or the first issue?
And, as a side note, just take a medium shot of each champ standing together. Boom. Iconic picture of UFC today.
Or a collage of fighters in great fights.

Nice for the TOC or first page of an article
The collage generally has too many elements to work against, like trade dress and what’s inside headers, logos, etc. In a group portrait the photographer COUGHALLELBOWSCOUGH can compose them from the get-go with a strong composition that’ll maximize the space on the cover..
But I think a collage done by the photographer, where they can choose good faces and silhouettes could work. I would love to see something like the last DREAM poster in that vein, but it seems rare on American newsstands.
OH SNAP! the more I think about yer idea, the more I like the idea of nothing on the cover but the fight shots. That could be memorable, but the UFC’s art dept. would prolly ruin it. Cough. :)
I can not find this anywhere!
I’m going to try borders down the street during lunch, but the newstand around the corner didn’t have it and neither did Barnes & Noble. Anyone else having a hard time finding it?
