Another muy profitable event – that shit on the ring doesn’t paint itself there.

Yeah they probably still made a profit
But it surely isn’t as big as the other fightnights. They also have lots of undisclosed bonuses so that will also shrink up their profits here..
They should stop having events in the pearl. They could sellout other places with more capacity anyway.

Wasn’t there also a report by someone who said that Diego got a backstage check?

It’s interesting that those from TUF who reached the finals received the same base pay as those from the show who did not.

That is why they are fighting for the contract.
A man should never waste an opportunity to keep his mouth shut.

Four earned main card status and four did not.
It would thus seem that four are worth more. Or, to put it another way, that four are worth less than those still able to compete for the contract.

Only the two winners get the better contracts, up until they win it’s all the same as everyone else. TUF alum get a crappy dealand TUF winners get the better contract. You can’t have them earning more before they win the contract.

Joe Stevenson is making 70k, no wonder he’s worried about losing his job. Man I hope this is a sign he’s getting back on track.

I don’t think he was ever off track. His 3 recent losses were to the current #1,2, and 3 guys in the division. He just fought guys a little better than him and lost like he should have

It seemed like he got a touch of sloppy kickboxing disease there for a while, it was good to see him get back to his strengths.

Now Sean Sherk, Rashad Evans, and Josh Koscheck need to get over their “sloppy kickboxing disease.”
by chrisbboy82 on Jun 23, 2009 12:44 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Rashad has KO’d a couple of people and won a world title belt off his striking, he might as well keep it up at this point but someone really does need to explain to Sherk that if your build like a T Rex and your great on the ground you shouldn’t depend on your boxing.

Rashad has been relying on his natural reflexes and speed; he’d be a much better standup fighter if he closed the technical holes in his game especially around footwork. But he certainly has the ability to fight a competent standup game.
Sherk and Koscheck both need to remember how to g’n’p. The talk after the last event of Sherk’s knees being a problem and interfering with his shot was disturbing.

Screwed
The judges got it wrong. Guida won that fight. Sanchez got the first round but was totally controlled in the next two. In Rogan’s words, what fight were the judges watching?
by jayhoff2000 on Jun 23, 2009 8:09 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
dude. stop.
There have been countless posts on this already… The judges were watching the fight where theDiego did all the significant damage and won the fight… Theres no point in arguing about it here, when it’s been overkill since fight night.

My mind was made up on this issue as soon as they announced the result. My buddy and I had watched the fight together and when we were trying to figure out what the decision would be, we both thought Guida stole it. Then they announced the decision and my friend said, “You can’t really disagree with any of those scores, can you?” And I couldn’t. I could see exactly how you could score the fight any of the three ways it was scored by the judges. There’s really no point fighting about it – it was a close fight where both fighters did some good things, and ultimately, a decision has to be made; in a close fight, it’s likely to be a tough decision and it was. That’s all, that’s it.

!["Honestly, I’ll stand with him until he hits me and then I will stand with him some more and then he’s going to be like, ‘What’s happening?’ And then I’m going to take him down. Then I will keep putting him on the ground and he’s going to try to get up and then I’m going to take him back down and I’m going to hit him. He’s not going to know where I’m coming from and he’s not going to know what happened. And then he’s going to know the fights over. I [know what] I really want to do in my heart, that I’m going to do and I can’t say it, but it’s going to be bad."
