MMA Training Is Serious Business
"I told Kimbo he was an asshole", says Bas according to Fighters Only magazine:
"I misjudged him, he turned into a whole different person. I told him a few weeks ago, I had a sit down with him. I told him that he was an asshole and that I have zero respect (for him] and I cant train people that I have no respect for. Can't ever," Rutten told Fighters Only in a recent interview.
"He just turned into a differet guy, he didn't need to do the things that I told him to do. He wasn't going to go to the ground, you know? The day before the [Petruzelli] fight, I told him I wanted to go over heel hooks and escapes, and he said "Nah, its not going to go to the ground".
I said 'Ha, I like that attitude - but what if it does go to the ground?' but he said 'Its not going to go'. So I said OK, but don't let me tell you 'I told you so' if he snaps your fuckin' leg in half. He said 'I don't know if that's a good thing for you to be telling me mentally, before a fight'! I said 'I don't think its a good thing for you not to be doing what I tell you, before the fight"!
Maybe Kimbo has been doing his homework and been trolling around the UG lately.

Critiquing Reality TV MMA Shows Is Serious Business
Yahoo MMA writer Steve Cofield says MMA fans got what they wanted, a boring TUF 9 season:
You got what you wished for. If you were one of the folks whining about the integrity of the sport and were calling for less and more fights on the UFC's reality show, you got it. And what you also got was a show that was difficult to pay attention to. How many engaging personalities were there on the show beyond U.K. coach Michael Bisping and Team USA fighter Damarques Johnson? The season was a snoozefest and worse yet was the talent, which by juding from just four fights total being pulled from the cast, even the UFC thought was subpar.
The best storyline of the show may been Cameron Dollar versus Jason Dent. Dollar seems to hate Dent. Why? Simply because he thinks Dent lacks personality and is boring. Dollar was smart in his approach. He's a 22-year-old MMA newbie with just three pro fights who earned himself one of the eight coveted slot on Saturday's TUF 9 Finale.
Describing MMA Fighters Is Serious Business
Fight Opinion's Zach Arnold laughs at Barnetts MMA description:
With his chiseled jaw and Mr. Incredible looks, Josh "The Babyfaced Assassin" Barnett could be the leading man in a Hollywood film or a character straight out of the anime that he loves so much. He has a superhero frame—at 6’3", 250 pounds, one can almost picture the "Babyfaced Assassin" wrapped in a cape, standing atop a tall building, scanning the city below for any evil doers. He is a well-spoken, charismatic figure whose persona is as compelling as his impressive fight record.

why are you bashing the independent rankings?
I think they’re a pretty welcome addition to the landscape.

In all seriousness though. I’m not sure if there’s anything to do about this/if anyone cares, but some people are getting multiple votes in the metarankings. it’s not that big of a deal because it’s mainly because of some of the committee rankings, but still. Breen impacts the sherdog and these new ones. Snowden is on Wamma and this new one. Jared Barnes has his personal rankings, plus he votes for wamma and this one.
It probably won’t make that much of a difference, but does anyone care is there anything to do about this?

I was going to write about the different rankings and media’s associated with them WAMMA, BE, yada, yada, yada, and decided to take it out.

OK, I’m confused. The day before the fight Kimbo didn’t know he was fighting Petruzelli, he was supposed to be fighting Shamrock. So is he saying that they had a secret deal with Shamrock to keep it standing like they did with Petruzelli?

Bas didn’t say Pretruzelli, I believe Fighters Only filled in the wrong fighter.
It was supposed to be Shamrock. And it is pretty obvious here, that Bas was not aware of any type of stand up only deal, which means there probably wasn’t one. Its just pretty much a given that Shamrock doesn’t go to the ground anymore because he is too old, without any deals.

Yeah, it’s just the part where he says so matter of factly that “it’s not going to go to the ground” that gets me. Unless he knew Shamrock wasn’t going to take him down (and the only way he could know that for sure is if they had a deal to stand) why would he not at least want to study the ground game a little bit?

Well then, that is settled. They have the Subo seal of approval.
Not only that, Ivan Trembow and Zach Arnold, two of your favorite people, are part of the voting panel!

It boggles my mind to think that some people rank Brock Lesnar above Nogueira. Who exactly has Brock beaten to warrant such a ranking?
Until such discrepancies are cleared up, I call Shenanigans on all your ranking systems.
