MMA Downunder - CFC # 9 "Fighters Paradise"
CFC have announced their next instalment of MMA will take place for the first time in Queensland, on the Gold Coast. It's going to be held at the Carrara Indoor Stadium on July the 11th which I've never attended however it looks like it holds 3000 seats and can only imagine is a decent venue. Once again, looks like a decent fight-card including the semi-finals in the LHW tournament and the LW title fight on the line.
So far it's shaping as -
Main Event - LW Title fight:
Rob Hill vs Adrian Pang.
Main Card - LHW Tournament:
Priscus Fogagnolo vs Jamie TeHuna
Anthony Perosh vs Dave Frendin
Undercard:
Jai Bradney vs Rodney Rhoden
Shane Wudenberg vs Evan 'Insert Surname when CFC update their Homepage' (Yes, I meant that.)
I have been holding off posting because I was waiting for CFC to update with more fights but at this stage it would appear they only have 5 confirmed fights. Not to worry, they will have more so if your are in the area check it out. CFC usually put on good shows and will be worth a look if you are an avid MMA fan. For the record CFC # 10 will take place on August the 21st back in Sydney which will feature the final for the LHW tournament

i’ve been 2 a few of their events now and every time they get better which is always good. dont be put off by the Fuel TV and their commentators. CFC’s production value is good, there is little time wasted between fights, the match-ups where pretty level and they do a little cross-promotion with other MMA events so you get the feeling CFC are trying to increase the MMA fan base in Australia rather then steal from each other.

Where would the CFC be without Andy Ramond’s over excited lack of knowledge mixed in with Michael Belos’s awkward stringing together of sentences?? Sports commentary at it’s finest!

Tatame is reporting that Bernardo Magalhaes (6-1) will rematch Dennis Kelly (5-5) in Cronulla, Sydney, NSW, on July 4th.

I interviewed Elvis Sinosic for a uni assignment the day after the last CFC. He said the crowd were beginning to learn a bit more and were cheering for some submission attempts. But after the event he heard a couple of people say something like, “There wasn’t much fighting going on” in reference to the ground work.
But rumor has it that some ZUFFA employees were down in Sydney the past couple weeks talking to our version of an athletic commision. And a UFC event in the Acer Arena, February 2009 looks a-go!
