It’s pretty cool that they can do this in this game. I have both PS3 and 360 versions so I decided to take a look at them. Xbox 360 is showing The Ultimate Fighter Finale while PS3 shows UFC 100.

Yeah I fired the game up on 360 and saw the huge ad and it looks pretty sweet. Caught me by surprise. They could have made the UFC 100 logo on PS3 bigger though. Big time props to THQ for doing this without any title updates via online.

Holy shit…I haven’t fired it up in a couple of days…but the other day I was talking to my friend about the UFC’s marketing, and told them it would be genius if they started putting ads on the in game mats, because of the number of people who just got the game, but aren’t big fans…

i thought it was weird that they have madison square garden on the mats as well….

they had UFC 99 on the mats on the PS3 version as soon as 98 was over

unless I read this post!

I’m sure i’ll notice every time it changes now, it’s a very smart marketing idea and one that they could probably take even further and use the logo in career mode so it becomes available before every event that way it gets noticed prior to people being told its there.

This is not just a huge marketing tool for the UFC but maybe they can sell ads to coke for video game time or something. Its like interactive banner ads inside your game that change and update all the time.

I’ve also noticed than in career mode the main events tend to be the same as upcoming fights. I’ve seen Florian vs Penn, Mir vs Lesnar and GSP vs Alves among others.

This isn’t anything new int he gaming industry.. EA has placed in game advertisement in several games.. I know in NHL 09 the ads on the boards change promoting upcoming TV shows and movies.
