You really think?
Come on, 31 year old rookies? 32 year old 0-1 guys?
There’s a couple of dudes in there that’ll make sure Kimbo doesn’t win the final, but there are some full-on tomato cans in that pack that – guaranteed – Kimbo will be up against in the first two fights.
The light heavy guys who had won through to TUF only to be told they weren’t needed any more once Kimbo decided he would do it, should be pisssssssssssed.
If you see Mark Coleman in person, drop $5 on the floor and watch the fun as he tries in vain to bend down and pick it up.

It’s a 16 round tournament not two 8 round tournaments, guys will have to fight three times to make the finals. As far as Kimbo goes don’t you think every guy in that house will be gunning for him? This looks to be one of the most talent packed seasons in years and Kimbo Slice goes in as a guy with a target on his back. There is also the fact that Kimbo goes in with a serious size disadvantage here, these inexperienced older guys were also once pro football players they may be new to MMA but they will also be some real athletic specimens. Unless you are claiming the show is fixed Kimbo Slice is going to obviously have a very tough road ahead of him.
They originally invited middleweights, light heavyweights and heavyweights, a lot of guys didn’t get on the show this season because it being one weight class, still that doesn’t mean that it was all bad for all of them as they did get a chance to show their stuff to the UFC. If they were good enough to get considered for a spot early in the casting then they could be good enough to get a shot on a undercard or on a future TUF season too, getting the UFCs attention is a big deal.

I'll say it - fixed for the first two rounds.
As far as who Kimbo fights.
As far as it not being bad for guys whose weight classes got cut, I know of at least one that threw his job in, thinking he was going to Vegas.
Screwed.

best season since TUF4
I can’t believe how many 265 guys there are on that list. I think the UFC is trying to make their HW division a real HW division
by Flyghtt on Jun 13, 2009 6:02 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
They have to bring in bigger guys because that’s what the division needs.
If TUF was full of 225 pound fighters, they’d all just end up at 205, and they’re fine there
by Phildo on Jun 13, 2009 8:12 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Which is what happened the only other time they ever did a season of heavyweights on TUF. Historically there was never a lot of up and coming talent in the heavyweight division to pad out a reality show but it seems like that has changed in a big way now(a very big way :D ). Who ever thought we’d see a season of TUF where heavyweights may have weight cutting drama or that the grocery list may break production cost? They are going to have nearly 2 tons of men stuck in that house.
by who me on Jun 13, 2009 6:33 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Wow. Looks like a great lineup. Kimbo has a shot at beating about a quarter of the guys. The other three-quarters… not so much. I assumed this would be like any other season, but there are some monsters. Hopefully these guys will act like professionals in the house.

With Wes Sims around? Don’t count on it. I"m setting the over/under on number of episodes before he gets thrown off the show at 3.

James McSweeney is very interesting. He was beat by Mustapha al Turk in Cage Rage which is something I’m sure he’d like to forget, but training at Greg Jackson’s has gotta be good for him. I remember Marquardt giving him credit for helping his Muay Thai after the Wilson Gouveia fight, but its very possible his ground game sucks ass. Being a good trainer and a good fighter are very different things
by StevenGiles on Jun 13, 2009 10:40 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
McSweeney had been moved to the false rumor’s section on their list, apparently they got some information to confirm he’s not on there.
They now have Tom Blackledge out of the Wolfslair Academy listed.

Some decent fighters, but I am going to stick with Schaub to pull off the win. However, I don’t think he is 6’6" tall.

It was the Colorado Open Sub Grappling/BJJ Tourney and he won the no-gi absolutes. Not exactly Mundials, but still a nice win.
Not sure about the GG, boxing isn’t really big in the media here.
The thing is, this guy is just one of those natural athletes that will excel at anything he tries. I have high hopes for him.

I'll agree w/ BJJDenver on this...
Brendan Schaub is an absolute beast. He’s gotta be about 6’4 or 6’5. I saw him up in Denver a few months ago and while I was talking to him, I had about 2 to 3 inches in height on him and I’m 6’7…..he outweighed me by 60 lbs easily though. The man is huge and was a great football talent…. I wouldn’t doubt he could kick through a brick wall with little effort…
I’m sure he’ll represent Colorado proudly.

Interesting thing for me is how big these guys are. Coming in at around the Heavyweight limit I don’t see these guys being able to drop to Light Heavy like Evans and Jardine if they don’t pan out at Heavyweight.
This season should bring new life to the heavyweight division.

You are correct sir…. but he has only made one appearance in TNA so far so it seems like he is sticking to his guns with MMA and only using TNA as a backup if he needs to make a house payment or something.

Which more or less just says what I said…. he’s going to do the MMA thing and when he reaches a stretch where there aren’t any fights for him or fights that make sense, he’ll do a few episodes and PPV’s for TNA.
TNA is a cash back up for him…. Jeff Jarrett and the rest of TNA just want to think they are higher on the priority list than they really are.

Heres a question for you folks. If Lesnar were on this cast list, would you have him as the favourite to win?
by GeeDub on Jun 14, 2009 7:04 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Yes I would have him as the favorite to win as things stand now, if it was a year ago in his development then probably not but he has come a long ways really quick(although I still question his sub defense).
Still this is a very very strong cast for this season, it’s reminiscent of the first two seasons where they actually had a cast full of prospects, a lot of these guys could of went straight into the UFC and no one would of thought it was a stretch. You could see a potential future world champion or two coming out of this season and it looks like a lot of guys who could be legit in the division, makes me feel a bit sorry for Kimbo.

Roy Nelson is gonna be the one at the finale. Honestly he shouldn’t be on the show. Other then promoting him a little more he has enough cred that Dana shouda just put him on a fight card. Roy and Cain would have been a good fight to watch at UFC 99 then Cain and Kongo.

Abe Wagner
… is interesting. Dude is huge and pretty ripped (or at least was the last time I saw him), has pretty solid stand-up and g-n-p, but very little real ground game. I also recently heard he’s started training with Ryan Jensen, so maybe he’s learning how to tap quickly or something. Could catch some guys with the stand-up, but probably done if any of the better guys gets him down and turns it into any kind of jits match.

Putting Nelson in there is like hiring a ringer for the company softball team. If he gets beat, though, it’ll speak to the overall talent of the pool.
I can’t wait for next season.
