Pat Miletich vs Frank Shamrock in Strikeforce?

Pat_miletich_pose_dghl_mediumAriel Helwani talked to Pat Miletich and he dropped this tantalizing little nugget:

...Miletich said he is still looking to fight once or twice in 2009, possibly for Strikeforce.

"There was talk of [fighting Frank] Shamrock at one time, which I wouldn't mind fighting him," Miletich said. "He had a tough match against Diaz, so I don't know if that's still going on.

Regardless of Frank's loss to Diaz, I think a Frank Shamrock-Pat Miletich fight would be a very promotable "senior division" matchup between two former UFC champs.

Indifferent – it’s a decent match, but I wouldn’t be particularly interested as it has no bearing on anything.

Not against these matches

Just hope the old man’s circuit doesn’t turn into the headline fights.

Frank lost one fight against a guy who has given some of the best fighters in the world trouble, and now he is done? MMA fans are so fickle

by Flyghtt on Jun 1, 2009 6:55 PM EDT reply actions

I like Frank

but it just seems that he was a former shell of himself in that fight. Maybe the day has come when he doesn’t have it in the ring anymore, or perhaps he just had a bad day. I say give him a few more fights and see where that leaves him.

If you want to speak in modern terms, Diaz was the toughest fight of his life except for Tito. All his other legit competition was always one dimensional and none of them hang with the best now a days.

People just don’t respect Nick like they should because of the whole pot thing and his occasional off night performances

he’s lost more than one fight

by yngjzy on Jun 1, 2009 7:13 PM EDT up reply actions

True

He has lost to Nick Diaz and Cung Le, after submitting Phil Baroni. Clearly he is washed up.

by mythbuster on Jun 1, 2009 7:47 PM EDT up reply actions

And he didn’t really look that incredible against Baroni either.

by Zack Gobie on Jun 1, 2009 11:01 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah he chose to stand with Cung Le for fun and got DQ’ed in the Renzo fight. Come on those are both bs losses

by Flyghtt on Jun 1, 2009 7:49 PM EDT up reply actions

Don't buy into "The Legend's" hype...

The reason he stood with Cung Le is that he couldn’t take him down and he knew it. Still- I’d like to see him fight Miletich. I know it wouldn’t mean anything, but I think that’s a well-made, competitive fight. Fights don’t always have to have alot at stake to be interesting to me.

There should have been a “Yes even though both guys are done” choice

by Yasnian on Jun 1, 2009 7:10 PM EDT reply actions

It’s hard to argue their irrelevance at this point, but if Frank doesn’t fight like last time, it could be fun.

the senior division match that I would like to see

Is Severn vs tank in wargods.. If they make that happen, BE readers will rejoice!

Severn vs tank in wargods

Only if it takes place in the ultimate proving grounds for fighters…the Yamma Pit.

Whats more interesting in the article is Pat dick tucking to the Dana… this has become a common occurrence lately.

by mmalogic on Jun 1, 2009 8:21 PM EDT reply actions

You think he left WAMMA to bone up his HoF credentials?

Old and Busted Vs Old and Slightly More Busted.

Keep firing Assholes!

This is a dream competition for me. I drink as much coffee as I want, and eventually I hallucinate.

who's the

which one is the slightly more busted?

by rainmaker6 on Jun 1, 2009 9:31 PM EDT reply actions

Fantastic matchup for Frank Shamrock…

I believe a few months ago, this was discussed, and Pat’s name came up as a fight that could get Frank back in the limelight. Positive matchmaking in this case.
