Tom Atencio says he will fight Dana White at any weight
Tom Atencio said he will fight Dana White in a heart beat (at any weight). He said Dana's been acting like a tough guy and should step up. This takes me back to grade school when the new kid picks a fight with the most popular kid in school ... trying to establish himself as a player.
I have 2 questions - should Dana accept the challenge? and ... Who would win? Actually, three questions ... who cares?

There is no reason for Dana to fight him. Accepting this fight only gives TA and Affliction publicity, which is not in Dana’s/ZUFFA’s best interest.
Tom has had pro fights, Dana has not. If he isn’t willing to let Roy Jones fight because it will hurt MMA, why would he see this as anything different?
I guess all that stuff about being a different type of promoter and not wanting to overshadow the fighters was all bullshit.
Totally
Right along with paying them what they deserve and treating them right, by asking them to take pay cuts and not scheduling them in any bouts.
I poop rainbows.
Don’t forget refusing to let a star like Tito sit over money issues. The day there’s a benevolent business that succeeds, I’ll be too busy dealing with the monkeys flying out of my ass to be too surprised.

I honestly don’t get Affliction. Every time they seem to make some sort of positive step forward someone comes out and says something incredibly stupid that makes them look like even more of a joke.
Dana shouldn’t fight Tom because Dana isn’t a fighter. You don’t need to be a fighter to promote fights, just like you don’t need to be a fighter to talk about fights, to train fighters, or to report on fights.
Affliction needs all the publicity they can get. What does it cost to challenge Dana? Nothing, and it causes hype, and gets “headlines”. This is the Affliction way.
Tom knows Dana won’t take him up on it. There is very little downside for this for Tom, aside from the fact that he is a pro fighter challenging a non fighter. This makes him look like an ass (Tito). Looking like an ass is a small price to pay if it can help keep your organization afloat.
The downside is that it makes it look like a joke.
They’re getting headlines in the mma blogoshpere, which is useless. they get headlines there all of the time, they still can’t make money. It really doesn’t make any sense to draw attention to yourself when there is absolutely nothing going on for them, because the discussion is going to surround how foolish he sounds, and how dumb it is that they haven’t announced the next show yet.
Maybe if they had another show announced or were announcing it now, it would make sense to pull some sort of dumb publicity stunt, but this doesn’t seem like that, it’s just another person from Affliction talking out of their ass.
The interviewer asked him if he would fight Dana White. He said he would. Whoop-di-doo. Atencio is training for a fight now so Im sure he would be willing to fight lots of people. How does that make Affliction look like a joke? Would you have preferred that Atencio say he was not willing to fight Dana? Why wouldn’t he be willing to fight Dana?
People are making out like Atencio has been running around town with a megaphone calling out Dana. He just responded to a question posed by an interviewer. sheesh.
I agree with this
This is being blown way, way, way out of proportion. There is no way this ever happens. He was asked, in my mind, a comical question and people are taking his answer seriously.
He responds to the question with a no comment, he’s labeled a pussy.
He responds to the question with any other answer, he’s a dick.
No win situation.

Well if he had said “That’s a stupid question, it doesn’t matter because obviously it would never happen” no one would even be talking about it at all or would be saying “Tom got that question right”. It wasn’t a no win situation.
I disagree
Given the fact that this topic is even being discussed in any serious fashion…. the response of “that’s a stupid question, it doesn’t matter because obviously it would never happen”…. the strictly UFC only followers and probably Dana White himself would call Tom Attencio a pussy and that Attencio is scared of Dana White.

Let them fight for pinks! Winner gets the loser’s promotion.
If you're not submitting, you're just rolling around with another guy.
To squash this feud, they could settle it like men.
Each man starts an MMA promotion and last one to run out of money wins.

Hey Tom,
Dana is a little busy at the moment.
He’s putting on shows in Las Vegas (3X), Cologne, Philadelphia and Portland by the end of August. He actually has dates set, arenas booked, and bout agreements signed. I know. It’s a new concept for you. A fight promoter who is constantly scrambling to book fights and keep his company in the forefront rather than taking a six month vacation between every card.
Perhaps you should try working on your business rather than screwing around making internet challenges and poking the bear with a stick?
Just a thought.

Just today we have got:
Dana White vs Tom Atencio- whatever weight grudge fight
Anderson Silva vs Roy Jones Jr.- Strikeboxing
Chuck Liddell vs Shaquille O’Neal
What a card!
I'd take Dana by 315 lb. bench press...
into inverted sexism bar.
Though Atencio would give him a run for his money with his sleek fashion sense.
Supporting all Las Vegas MMA.
'09 is the year of the FW's.
Atencio is delusional – there’s no way Dana will fight him. For starters, Dana is not a fighter – sure, he swears more than half his roster combined and walks around acting like he’s the baddest dude on the planet – but he’s no fighter.
Second, why would Dana – as a representative of UFC – agree to anything that gave the competition any free publicity? If he said ok, let’s fight, Atencio and Affliction would get tons of airtime on Dana’s coattails.
Third – why should Dana care? He’s got no reason to feel threatened by Affliction. He can safely ignore this kind of stuff and go buy himself another Hummer.
Atencio-White will never take place.
