Quote of the Day: Forrest Griffin's Coach Talks Anderson Silva, UFC 101

Forrestgriffin_medium

A lot of people on the Internet here and around the MMA community are probably going to expect [Griffin] to lose like they did against (Mauricio) 'Shogun' (Rua). Forrest fights well in big fights. He's not a small 205 [pounder]. He's a big 205 [pounder]. Take it down, make this a grimy, grind-out type of fight.

Griffin] is going to hit the cage at about 225 (pounds). Make Anderson feel your weight. Don't try to make it a speed contest. Let this go 15 minutes hard.

Anderson hasn't been pushed. Anderson has not had to be pushed. He hasn't had to go, 'Man, this guy just won't stop.' Forrest is not going to stop, so it'll be a great test for him.

sounds like a good gameplan to me. i’d also love to see Randy move down to 205 and fight Silva at that weight. that would be an epic fight, methinks.

Are you seriously suggesting that

Randy vs Silva would be epic? Randy & Chuck are my two favorite fighters of all time. That being said-they are both done competing with top flight competition.

Arguing on the internet is like being in the special olympics, even when you win you are still retarded.

dude ...

Randy vs. almost anyone is usually epic.

I’m completely with you. I love how a guy loses one fight and he’s done fighting top competition. I remember when I first heard this whopper about Randy being done in 2004. We’ll see how he looks against Nog.

I think Silva-Couture would be fantastic. There’s been rumors Randy wanted it too, epic fight of the classic underdog vs. unbeatable killer.

And a whole shit ton of money. Also.

To hear some people, Couture-Noguiera is like Frye-Abbott. Give me a break with this burying a guy after one loss thing.

If a cop that looked like that arrested me, I’d pinch his cheeks.

My dad looked a lot like that when he started as a cop. He ended up growing the disgusting ’70s MEGAstache just so people five years his junior would stop calling him “son” after he pulled them over.

Frazier is right...

While I’m still not convinced Forrest will win, he will indeed push Silva. I’m completely geeked/cised/excited about this fight.

Can’t believe the genius behind this match up is the same one who put together Leites/Silva. Talk about contrasts.

I'm still leaning on Silva winning...

… though we’ll see when it gets closer to the bout. Forrest will fight a smart fight, but I’m sorta thinking that if Rashad can tag Forrest, so can Silva for sure. I dunno. He survived a couple good shots from Rampage, so we’ll see… It’s the age old struggle: I think Silva will win, but I want Forrest to.

I love me some Sexyama!

I want Forrest to win for Silva’s sake.

Enter Travis Lutter!!!!

I think he got pushed pretty hard in that one

This fight is going to be fucking awesome.

I second that emotion!
