I’m not new to the Machida love, ever since the Sokodjou fight I’ve been hoping he’d become champ…but this could possibly be the fastest excellerating hype train among the hardcores ever.
Likewise
As a fan of Karate, I really enjoyed Machida’s style since the Nakamura fight, which was the first I saw. I don’t mind what many people see as inactivity because I think his form is brilliant and his movement and timing are just unbelievable. Watch that first video and look at how he times his left straight counters to every low kick Bonnar tries to throw at him. Same against Franklin. Frankling repeatedly eats shots to the face while trying to execute kicks. Lyoto gets off first every time.

Oh yeah, definately…I mean, that agressive brazilian fighting style is something that hasn’t been attempted against Lyoto.
Thiago Silva? Who’s that? /end sarcasm

espn just ran the lyoto vs shogun title fight across the ticker, during sportscenter, using mma weekly’s ratings?(worst on the net imo) not sherdogs like usual, and the also ran fedor vs barnett for the WAMMA (UGH!) hw title. anyway, it’s good to see mma in general get some attention and their props.
And Sexyama!!

sam roger? who’s sam roger my favorite part of that fight is when hoger punches lyoto in the face from his knees.
When answering a question about the Evans fight in Portuguese, Machida clearly says “Hashad.”
A man should never waste an opportunity to keep his mouth shut.
Because R’s are pronouced as H’s in portugese. Never noticed that with Royce Gracie?

IS that all Portuguese, or is it just the Gracies being assholes?

Don’t know any Portuguese. But, from what I can decipher from this article it is done a few times in Brazil’s form/dialect ((or whatever it is).

I believe it’s the R that begins a word in Brazilian Portuguese that gets the H pronunciation. Rs in the middle or at the end of words are pronounced normally. I’m also pretty sure this doesn’t happen in Portugal Portuguese, i.e. the soccer player Ronaldo, but I could well be wrong about that.
this is what they did in pride
w/ the nog brothers "H"ogerio and "H"odrigo
and of course fedor is pronounced like Theodore but with an “f”
