During one of his Cofield interviews

Dana said that Cro Cop will end up on the televised card. Whether this means that the UFC will actually schedule a 6-fight main card, or if they’ll bump one of the other main card fights down to the prelims, remains to be seen.

by Scott Haber on May 25, 2009 11:49 AM EDT reply actions

I hope they bump down the swick fight..

If they have to take out one.. I hope it’s that fight. Although I doubt that would happen..

by Anton Tabuena on May 25, 2009 12:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Wha??

Whycome? I love that match up. Guaranteed fireworks.

I poop rainbows.

by Blackout612 on May 25, 2009 12:08 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, I'm all over that fight.

Saunders’ last was insane, and Swick explodes every time. Bring that.

If you see Mark Coleman in person, drop $5 on the floor and watch the fun as he tries in vain to bend down and pick it up.

by Ozzz on May 30, 2009 2:55 AM EDT up reply actions

And

If they’re bumping a fight, I promise you that it’ll be Fisher/Uno.

I poop rainbows.

by Blackout612 on May 25, 2009 12:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah but I’m really looking forward to seeing Uno fight again. And from the other main card fights, seeing swick fight is the least interesting for me..

But of course they won’t bump him down seeing as they might be grooming him for a future title shot..

by Anton Tabuena on May 25, 2009 12:22 PM EDT up reply actions

Seems that you might be overlooking Saunders.

I poop rainbows.

by Blackout612 on May 25, 2009 1:30 PM EDT up reply actions

No not at all..

I’m just not that as interested as seeing that fight compared to the other main card fights.. Plus, I’ve never been much of a swick fan.. Don’t know why though, I don’t dislike him, for me he’s just blah..

by Anton Tabuena on May 25, 2009 9:19 PM EDT up reply actions

All the more reason to root for Saunders

Yeah. 100% that is what gets bumped if something does

agree thats the fight i want to see least

by JaTinkles on May 25, 2009 1:27 PM EDT up reply actions

Some interesting fights I was not previously aware of. I’m really going to be pulling for Struve to make a good impression. And I’m curious at Kelly’s mediocre competition, given his success in the UFC. Seems that he should be fighting a lot better fighters and making televised cards, not lurking on the bottom of the tank with the likes of Roli Delgado.

I seem to recall that he’s dropping a weight class for this fight. If that’s still the case, a “step back” opponent would make sense.

He already dropped for his last bout, no?

I poop rainbows.

by Blackout612 on May 26, 2009 6:20 PM EDT up reply actions

No.

He fought Rude Boy @ 170 in his last fight. And he mauled him.

But yeah, they’re giving him a guy he’ll easily be able to take down and pound out, without any real threat of a knockout happening in the standup.

Maybe update this with the date included (June 13th)? It’s coming up pretty quick..

6-pack

I’d bet they’ll do a 6 fight card, considering that at least 3 of the maincard fights seem destined to end early due to knockout, and there’s a strong chance of all of them ending that way.

Plus no title fight that they need to alot extra time for.

by ufc4 on May 25, 2009 3:42 PM EDT up reply actions

This is true

They really may as well just call it six fights.

God I hope Crocop wins

It can set up Randy vs. Crocop, the fight we always wanted to see but instead got Randy vs. Gonzaga :(

If Cro Cop loses to Al-Turk then perhaps it’s time for him to hang up his gloves.

Lots of interesting match-ups on this card. We should see some incredible KOs and some 3 round wars. More importantly we will have several question answered as well.

by Riney on May 25, 2009 1:42 PM EDT reply actions

That’s a pretty darn good card for an overseas show.

by who me on May 25, 2009 1:53 PM EDT reply actions

etim and hathaway both looked really good last time out. hopefully we see more of the same from these two young british fighters

by FiatJustitiaRuatCaelum on May 25, 2009 2:07 PM EDT reply actions

I like Etim and his last performace was great, but he’s gotta get some takedown defence, and knowing how to do more on the ground than “break posture and hang on for dear life” would hurt either. He’s got a ton of talent, but a long way to go.

This event will be awesome.

I don’t see many of these going to decision. At the very least, Wand will bring it as always.

Randomly, I love Saunders’s mutton chops. My favorite facial hair style.

Yo, I can’t believe some of you want the Saunders/Swick fight bumped to the undercard. That fight has the potential to be fight of the night.

The main problem I see is that Swick has his hands closed into fists. He’ll never knife through the water like that, what with aerodynamics and all.

Doesn’t that apply to any UFC card for you? Ha!

It really is a good card but putting Swick/Saunders ahead of Fisher/Uno will ruin it a bit for me.

by Jmend255 on May 25, 2009 3:28 PM EDT up reply actions

Well, true, at least for about 95% of them. I think 85 was the last one that really didn’t excite me at all.

by ufc4 on May 25, 2009 3:43 PM EDT up reply actions

The Coleman-Shogun/Hendo-Franklin card kinda sucked ass (on paper and in reality).

"I'm AJB and I endorse this nut-puncher."

by AJB on May 25, 2009 11:08 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, but at least the main event had a matchup people wanted to see (even if it was a bit late) and the co-main had the anticipated return of Shogun, even though it turned out that he was still not the fighter people had remembered from PRIDE. 85 just had no redeeming qualities whatsoever. The main event started out as Chuck vs Shogun (yay!) , turned into Chuck vs Rashad (still cool), and ended up as Hughes vs Alves (huh?). No less than 8 fighters who were supposed to be on the card ended up pulling out and Alves couldn’t make weight. All that and the UFC still refused to put it on free TV.

by ufc4 on May 26, 2009 12:47 AM EDT up reply actions

Oh god, the disaster show. Yeah, it was epicly bad. In my bottom two, along with the crapfest that was Franklin-Okami in Ireland. I mean, of modern UFCs; it’s not fair to compare to the Dan Severn era.

I dig this card, though I don’t know if I like my dudes Uno and Hardy’s chances.

So Cro Crop is now official for UFC 99?

Bastards have UFC.com blocked at my work so I wasn’t able to check it out….

Lol, no it's still not on UFC.com

and clearly you’re not buying it until it is, despite Dana referring to it in several interviews, Goldberg plugging it on the air at UFC 98, Cro Cop and Al-Turk both discussing strategy for each other, etc etc. ;)
