Wow. I just took a bad beat on Sean Sherk.
I had Sherk as the foundation for 5 parlays, and with his loss, I dropped $140 and all but one of my bets.
It was like the frontpagers said--the one thing we have to worry about is if he decides to forsake his strength (wrestling) and try to trade on the feet. He did it, and he lost. I'll never bet on him again.
Luckily, Lyoto Machida and Matt Hughes came through on a $45 bet to win $91, so I'm still playing with the house money.
In light of the disasterous Sherk debacle, I decided to try an experiment in diversification. I made a series of $5 parlay bets on different permutations of fights for the next 3 UFCs as well as a bit of WEC and Japan.
If you are looking for intelligent gambling advice, I suggest you read Leland's posts. I'm just experimenting with different betting styles as a hobbyist, who mostly uses gambling as a small way to increase his enjoyment of watching fights.
Here's the series of $5 bets:
Fisher, Davis, Swick: $10.72
Fisher, Diaz, Lesnar: $11.77
Franklin, Fisher, Davis: $13.99
Franklin, Fisher, Swick: $14.13
Fisher, David, GSP, Lesnar: $14.51
Franklin, Fisher, David, Swick: $22.82
Fisher, Davis, Faber, GSP, Lesnar: $27.53
Fisher, Diaz, Guida: $31.90
Fisher, Franklin, Diaz, GSP, Lesnar: $34.57
Fisher, Davis, Franklin, Diaz, Hendo, GSP: $51.27
Jason Miller, Faber, Fisher, GSP, Hendo: $58.42
Fisher, Franklin, Davis, Guida, Hendo: $70.97
Franklin, Swick, Guida, Diaz, Hendo, Lesnar: $112.82
Diaz, Franklin, Fisher, Davis, Swick, Lesnar, GSP, Hendo: $107.44
Lesnar, GSP, Hendo, Franklin, Fisher, Davis, Swick, Guida, Diaz: $332.32
Total risked: $80
Total left in account: $11.05
I plan to bet the remaining $11 on UFC 99 parlays once the undercard odds become available. I'll update with those bets, as well as the results.
